Hi! Thanks for the info on how to get birding alerts. We, too, are from Colorado, in Loveland. New subscriber here. I saw a Smooth -billed Ani in Puerto Rico in a group. Pretty cool!

I have fed a Gray Jay trail mix out of my hand in the middle of the Pike Natl. Forest, but they are notorious.

From what I have heard, Anis have an interesting relationship with people. Apparently, they like to follow people around hoping they will kick up grasshoppers and other insects that they can eat. That could explain why this one was so bold.

Yeah that would very much make sense. I saw this Ani eat multiple grasshoppers while I was there!
