This is from Drury Lane concert, 1975. It is indeed a live recording. Rare Bird appeared with Barclay James Harvest.

This film was shown on the Old Grey Whistle Test, and Bob Harris said after playing it that the band was preparing their next album (it would have been the follow-up to 'Born Again'), and it was planned to be half studio tracks, and half live. So there may be more audio-only live recordings somewhere from this line-up.What became of Fred Kelly? I always thought he was an excellent drummer with Rare Bird.

I believe I read somewhere Fred Kelly went into record production for several bands.

@@classicrockalbumreviews19 Part of a 6CD box set and I'm giving it a miss because I already have the Cherry Red CD issues of Rare Bird's albums, so I'm not going to pay £30 for the live CD (they haven't even included all the studio recordings). A couple of years from now Cherry Red will release the live set as a single CD.
@classicrockalbumreviews193 жыл бұрын
@@raleysmiggo3987 what studio stuff did they not include ? I was at this concert Drury Lane 1974 . I saw them about 7 times before they folded in 75 .
@raleysmiggo39873 жыл бұрын
@@classicrockalbumreviews19 There was a US single release of Hey Man (stereo and mono fold down sides). I'm no expert, but it doesn't sound to me like it's an edit of the album track. I'd really like someone else to listen to it to confirm whether or not it's a different recording. Anyway, even if it's an edit, it's so different to the album version that it should have been included in the box set, in my opinion.

This IS real audio from the live show. The audio and video are out of sync no doubt. Moreover there's more lead guitar parts in this video than the studio version.

"RARE BIRD" DOESN'T SEEM TO GET THE ATTENTION THEY'VE EARNED. THIS IS A FEW YEAR'S AFTER THEIR DEBUT IN ENGLAND. LISTEN TO A SONG CALLED, 'BEAUTIFUL SCARLETT' OR THEIR INCREDIBLE EARLY ALBUMS. I DON'T LIKE SEEING A GROUP INSPIRED BY ROD ARGENT AS IGNORED AS IT IS ON KZbin...

+hj brubaker It may be out of sync, but if I listen to the studio version, I definitely hear a fuller sound here like in concert....apart from whether the public cheers have been mixed into it or not.
