Thinking about selling my c5 Corvette and get a 2007 Z4 hard top coupe. How reliable has this been for u?
@invictusporsche2 жыл бұрын
These are extremely reliable, it's to be expected from German engineering :)
@andrewthach19892 жыл бұрын
@@invictusporsche haha German engineering and reliability don't go hand and hand for the most part. That's japanese. But I like my German cars.

@andrewatsv2718 unfortunately what you're saying is true to a certain extent . The trick with BMW is stick with the inline 6 if at all possible without the turbo . And then you have to be super proactive / OCD with your maintenance and upkeep . Doing so these are extremely robust and well-built cars and from my experience are very reliable . I've now had 11 BMWs in my life and only one of them left me roadside with a cooling system failure which is one of the most common things. But my 2006 Z4 3.0 SI Coupe has been flawless since I bought it this February and I did a 10-day road trip from Vancouver Canada to California and back with absolutely no issues, with the needle pegged steadily at highly arrestable speeds 😁. The N52 is one of their best and has a very usable flat powerband. And I got 38 (imperial) mpg on the highway even with my lead foot! To say I was amazed is an understatement. Love my Z4. Find a good one (get a ppi!) and you will too! And try to get the later 3.0si with the N52. Well worth the little extra $ !

The BMW Z4 3.0si Coupe with a manual transmission (828 units in North America) is a standout rarity: - **BMW Z8**: Even rarer with 2,543 units in the U.S., underscoring the exclusivity of both models. - **Audi R8 V10 Manual (First Gen)**: The Z4 is rarer in North America among only 828 units. - **Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1**: Fewer units compared to the ZR1's 4,684 units, the Z4 Coupe maintains a unique appeal. - **Lotus Exige S (North America)**: With similar limited numbers, the Z4 highlights BMW's exclusivity among only 828 units. - **Dodge Viper (Final Gen)**: The Z4's scarcity outpaces this iconic American sports car's approximately 2,000 units, making it a prized addition for collectors and enthusiasts.

I got an offer for my 2008 for 9k then I’ve spent in over 1 year over 7k for preventative maintenance (solenoids, timing chain, water pump/thermostat, all rubber gaskets, new paint, new rear quarters (old were a bit rusty), new control arms, new serpentine belt, new maf, atf fluid and now it’s for sale for 10k and nobody wants itt. So the idea is if you plan to sell a car spending money on maintenance will not make it sell better. Anyway the mean depreciation over 10 years for a 70k car is about 3k per year, so 7k loss is actually a 4k

This is not ragging it around. This engine is designed to be revved out as long as it's done on a warm engine it's harmless. It's not like he's sitting doing burnouts or dropping the clutch hard or dropping gears without rev matching. Driving through the rev range actually helps clear the systems of carbon build up
