Many people already commented about it but I'll say it too, that 1923 Jersey is stunning! I wouldn't blame you of you'd wanted to keep it. I like reading about heraldry so I decided to look up the leopard/lions thing. In short the actual animals depicted are meant to be lions (including manes) but they way in which they are depicted was referred to as leopards in medieval heraldry. This way being "Lion Passant Guardant", or walking on all fours and looking towards the observer.

Loved that 1923 Jersey coin. Superb condition for nearly 100 years old 👌. Loads more spaces filled, and I wasn't aware of the exeru.., exeg.., double line on the 1940 😁

A lot more spaces filled today and two Smiffy bingo lines completed with the 1940 and 1913 😊👌. The Jersey 1923 is an amazing find and in fabulous condition considering its age .

i had a look through the few 1D coins i have at home and to my delight i found that out of the 5 1918 coins one had the H mint mark. i have had most of these coins since the 1970s and until i started watching your coin hunts had no idea of the variations to be found. thank you for cramming my brain with more stuff.

I enjoy the references to features like the exergue line on the 1940. The reference books that i have make little reference to errors and such out side the 1926.

Another great hunt! The Italian 10 centesimi's mint mark is H, which funnily enough stands for the Heaton Works. They produced coins for Italy during the 19th century alongside Italy's own mints in major cities. 1866 is an important year for Italy's story of creation, as it gained the Veneto region from the Austrians after the latter lost the Austro-Prussian War of that year. So Vittorio Emanuele's coins between 1861-1870 depict him as the King of a not-yet-complete Italy! Side note: I personally pronounce exergue as "ek-zerg"! ;)

never get tired of watching these penny hunts, i've been inspired by these hunts to revisit my pre decimal coin collection and at present i am a trying to complete a shilling date run back to 1900, On another note i come across a Edward 7th florin, what a glorius design of Britannia. might have to start looking at collecting a date run of florins. anyway, thanks for posting, keep up the great videos, look forward to the next one.

I have a shop near me, with a tray loaded with old Pennies. I'll be looking through lots of 1940 Pennies, to check that theory. The two you showed, the single line version had much more wear, making me wonder if they all start with double lines? Great hunt!

Love that Jersey refused to acknowledge the penny so kept with 1/12 of a shilling. Never seen a farthing from there but presumably it was marked as 1/48 of a shilling.

some nice new additions, topped by the 1923 Jersey. It does seem unnecessary that their coins say one twelfth of a shilling -- but its because there was a time (when Jersey used the French system) when it was 13 Jersey pennies to one GB shilling

Lovely Coin hunt. I really enjoy looking at old pre-decimals. In my opinion, I believe they are leopards not lions on that Jersey coin. But I think it is open to interpretation.
