In this restoration videos i repair this ashtray made of copper that was found on the beach. After some research i found that this is a craft made by hand in chile.
As you probably know Chile is the first copper producer in the world and many locals use this wonderful metal for their crafts. You will watch how to remove rust and repair copper.
The restoration begins by rust removal for this i made a blend for cleaning copper and/or brass and let this wonderful ashtray sit overnight, i clean as much as possible the copper rust with this blend but was not enough so i had to brush very gentle so as not to damage the material.
Then i had to correct many imperfections such as a bend tab and base after this i clean again with a soft steel brush then applied 2 thin layers of protective coat. Finally the piece regain its former glory as the day it was in the chilean craftman who made it.
I am very happy with the result have much fun restoring this piece and hope the video is entertaining and relaxing for you.
