The runways at Amsterdam are infinite in length. Every time I land at this airport it takes longer to taxi off the runway than the flight itself.

Check out Beijing’s 36R and 01, all 3800m in length, never used up. Sometimes if you land on 36L but your parking is at T3, 20 min taxi cross the 36R

Pretty sure we took off from that remote runway last time I flew from Schiphol. It took the plane a good 12 minutes just to get from the gate to the runway. At one point we were crossing over the motorways, which is always very impressive. :)

Beste Marga, Bedankt voor je leuke reactie. Dat editen van films... is het hobby gedeelte. Zit inderdaad wat werk in, maar geeft zeker ook voldoening! Als je echt wil vliegen gaat dat je lukken. Misschien niet als piloot bij een maatschappij, maar denk bijv. aan zweefvliegen. Zo ben ik ook begonnen. Is ook super leuk! En anders kleine luchtvaart. Je kan altijd een proefles nemen. Humor vind ik belangrijk. Dat houd je ook scherp op een bepaalde manier. Groet, Michaël

Hi Mattie, Goed om te horen dat je rustiger wordt door het zien van deze films. Aircrash Investigation series zijn erg indrukwekkend. Je moet je wel realiseren dat de meeste ongevallen die gebeurd zijn heel veel nieuwe procedures/onderdelen/oplossingen opleveren en dat het dus allemaal uiteindelijk veel veiliger wordt! At 3:55 you switch the Lower DU to off. I have seen that before, but why is that done? Wouldnt it be advantageous to have Hydraulic Press indications etc visible at all times? And 2. Question: The Engine Display shows below N1 and EGT only FF. Wouldnt it be better to show ALL infos (like N2, Oil Press, Oil Temp etc.) all times? I have seen crews switching this info invisible during normal phase of flight. Why is this done? Thanks for your info!

It is not necessary to have that info. If something is not right it will pop-up the lower DU. This way it is even more clear something is not right. If you have the info constantly on, you slightly easier miss that info. Yes you can put all info on the upper DU. But then again. It gives more info, but info we actually don't use unless something is wrong. But then the lower DU will pop-up as well. If other companies choose to have that info on... that is probably their SOP for some reason. Hope it clarifies why we don't have the Lower DU on. N1 is for our departure more important. Our takeoff thrust is set on a certain N1 setting calculated prior each departure. So we use N1 more than other info. EGT can show you something might go wrong if it is getting higher than normal. "Rawdata". Than you will fly for example... radials and distances from a VOR. Or fly an ILS without Flight Director. Just the ILS info on your PFD. Thanks for the compliment en question.

That is the "Trim wheel". Tim is used to reduce the forces on the yoke. Thanks!

ik wil later ook piloot worden, maar door mijn autisme (verstandelijke handicap) gaat dat m niet worden :( maar ik word er altijd weer vrolijk door uw videos te kijken, toch nog een soort piloot. haha. keep up the good work!
