nice instrument! I recent acquired a Buescher Epoch cornet and was wondering if you had any idea of its value? It has the serial number 525, which dates it to early 1901, but interestingly is pre-patent, and as far as I can tell only about 100 instruments were made pre-patent at most.

The condition is pretty average, but the instrument is fully functional. There’s two dents on the back of the bell crook, one large dent in the 3rd valve tuning slide(the slide works), and the top inner pipe of the front main tuning slide needs to be re-soldered. There is also a very slight crease in the bell. The instrument has a coffin-style case with it that I believe is original, as well as the A shank. Sadly, the shorter Bb shank is missing. The 1st valve and 3rd valve are short, with the 1st being slightly longer. Interestingly, there’s actually two design flaws: the 3rd valve bottom cap is almost completely blocked by the 2nd valve tuning slide, and the 3rd valve tuning slide is blocked by the bell to the point that it can’t be removed without damaging the instrument. Sorry for the long comment! and if this shows up more than once!

kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGq2lZ-ujqxkl9Esi=eUUBfm8exMVpL2lM Did you happen to see my KZbin demonstration of my Buescher Epoch Cornet? This is the link to the KZbin video. It was made in 1905. I completely restored it. The Buescher Epoch Cornets are very rare. I believe the value of them is between $800 and $1200 depending on the condition that they are in and when they were made. If yours is pre-patent then it may be worth a good bit of money. That’s about all that I can tell you. Good luck and thank you for watching.

Really cool horn. How's the intonation with the crooks?

Thank you very much. The intonation is relatively good except when you use the largest A crook. The first valve and third valve slides need to be pulled out some to be able to play the pitches in tune. Thanks very much for watching.
