My brother-in-law got stationed in Korea in '69 and left me his vast record collection, turned me on to Velvet Underground, 13th Floor Elevators, Al Kooper's BS&T, Quicksilver, all excellent stuff that opened my eyes and ears for a music appreciation that lasts to today!

Coming home from the 'burbs on Michigan Ave. (Detroit) in (late 1980's? 1990's?) I heard on "oldies" radio that Rare Earth was to appear at the festivals in Hart Plaza. Screw going home, head downtown. Parked 10 blocks away and made it on time (9:00 p.m., Sunday). Elbow to ass-hole people in Hart Plaza (S.R.O.). And the band COOKED! The 20+ min. version of this tune, with the extended solos by each musician. Was young and crazy back then; ain't young anymore.
