@@langers4321 hey now thanks for getting back in contact. I'm just having a bad toothaches you know a bunch and I've had them for a long time and that's I just deal with it. But I'm lucky and you're lucky is really need to hear somebody had a success story and I'm not sure how mine's working lately cuz they sold my house last year at auction and I'm trying to figure out how to save the thing. So I've been listening to music all morning and just grooving on stuff that other people do and trying to figure out you know some angles of how to keep the government from winning and keep my head up and and my freak flag flying and the rest of that stuff you know and a good attitude is is the first part that makes it all work I guess so thank you sir for calling back and or texting back and look forward to talking with you. Hope you have a great day. I'm heading to the big city of Everett and I'm going to go in and try to do a pro bono emotions to suppress the illegal sale of my home. So any feedback or any kind of input you might be able to have would be great. I'm located in Arlington, Washington, Snohomish county and it's been a real trying issue. I had thought I had $62,000 Grant money awarded to me and they wouldn't accept the word letter and went ahead and sold my house last year. Now the person's trying to come and take it this weekend and it's it's heartbreaking. I don't know if I'm going to make it screw it or not in one piece. But I'm praying with a good Lord in heaven and I do and all the rockers out there show that fist in here and shake one for the crew man cuz we're going to need it. Peace out brother. Have a very good day. Talk to you soon

My friend is an audio engineer and I had him setup up my stereo system in the house and he needed a song to check the sound and I said "I have the right one" and when the first note played I just turned it up all the way and I opened the front door and raised all the windows closed the phone and we sat in the backyard. I closed my eyes and with my hands behind my head and sailed away in through the outdoor.

Norfolk Scope. Norfolk, Virginia. Summer of 1973. Manhattans were the opening act followed by Mandrill. Rare Earth was the main attraction. The band, in particular, the drummer went so berserk they had to flash the lights off and on to finally get them to leave the stage!!! As a 15 year old kid from Boston visiting Virginia for the very first time? Let's just say the experience had a lasting effect on me

Bought this double album in 1970. Saw them in concert in 1971. I'm a drummer of 50 years at 63 yrs. of age. I still play and will until I'm called home. Rock and roll is a way of life, just like a football player or a great chef. It's what you do and if you're good enough, you can do it until you die. Pete Reveria, you work it right on that double bass.

This was not a double album in 1969, what are you talking about? The long version Get Ready was the 'B' side of a single vinyl album. Plus there was the edited shorter 7" single as well. I have both. Cheers, DAVEDJ !

@@Multi1628 Sorry Dave. WRONG! Rare Earth put out a double album that was LIVE! It had all the hits and a long version of Get Ready complete with Eddie Guzman on percussion along with Rivera on drums and singing lead. It came out in 1971 along with a full USA tour. Adios from Texas!!

@@austinteutsch The fact that we're chatting it up as the great piece of history it is... nearly 52 years later is the proof of it's life value. In 152 years this will still be out there and valued. Todays produced/packaged/pablum, not so much. I will always cherish the memories of playing this in my first 'working' band in 1973 up in the Midwest. The double live album will show up now that it's been mentioned so let's just enjoy the fact that there are SEVERAL live recordings of them out there to continue to play along with. Reconnecting to all of my old music during the Covid lock-down has been a blessing to my fingers & ears. My current band will be getting back out there in January & I'm pushing to do this song because it's fucking relevant again! "Love The one Your With" might also be a good one to add! This era's music will live on with loving care.

I met my friend Jeffrey Wyatt who lived in 1520 . In 1972 he would show me how to dance. We would look inside Hercs bedroom where Herc would put on a record. Often Herc would be seen coming from the stairs down to the building. He would play his records in its entirety meaning he would listen to his compilation especially a new album. He often would be seen with two of the same albums. He would play the entire album. We knew what song that had a break dance rhythm. Happy Hip Hop 50 ! Shout out to James Bond a Kool Herc Breakdancer ! Real Talk Boogie Down Bronx ! 1520 Sedgwick Avenue the home of Hip Hop ❤

I used to own that Iron Butterfly album and my sister owned this Rare Earth album. But a song taking up one side of a 33-1/3 album was something artists did back in the day. I had Don McLean's American Pie album, which I still think is his best stuff. On the B side he had Vincent, The Spirit of Fatima, Empty Chairs and Babylon. I LOVED that album.

The first time I heard this was on the car radio of some guy training me on door to door selling as we were going to our next appointment. My jaw dropped open! Wow! Believe it or not, it was after catching up on all the rock I had been missing in my early life, I found out about the Beatles after...they had broken up. The drum at the end is just fantastic. My then girlfriend bought tickets for the early 1972 Rare Earth Tour concert at the Charleston Gilliard Auditorium. I didn't expect much because I was used to Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Alice Cooper, The Who, et. al, and Rare Earth was more of a top 40 genre. But I have to say that they gave one of the best concerts ever! I believe Gil Bridges was their saxophonist that played two saxophones simultaneously that night. These Detroit Rockers earned my respect forever!!!

And here I thought Rare Earth was just soul/Motown cover band. This is truly magnificent.

I have been trying to tell people...this is the best Get Ready, but they won't let go of the Temptations, which I love but you just have to give it up to this group. My brother played it so much I had no choice but to fall in love with it.I was 10 years old and I am 60 years old and still listening and loving me some Rare Earth. 💯🤷🏽‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️

@@blueeyedfox2009 and besides the temps weren't songwriters or a proper band per se though in the 70s they moved away from the Motown formula; whereas rare earth was a gruff n heavy r&b band that leaned heavily on rock and psychedelia. Rare earth wins the get ready war fo sho.

Seriously. I know that it's natural for everyone to love the music that they cut their teeth on and grew up with and think that it's the best ever, no debate. I've been around for a lot of years, and I thought that when I was a lad also, but as great music keeps being made over the years, one has to avoid making the greatest music ever made thinking. Beatles? Greatest ever. Led Zeppelin , greatest ever. David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Queen. Stones. Yes. ELO. Whatever. It's totally subjective. There's plenty of competition for greatest extended version ever, but I am tired of typing. Think about that statement. Short sighted, is all I'm sayin. And as for drums, it's great. What about Moby Dick? I want to say greatest drum performance ever, but fall into my own trap. Thanks for listening.

I loved it in the 1960's and is still just as good today. Better than modern music today, by a long shot. The best. 69 today.

And no hidden-over-ridden covered up speech impediments. Like Burton cummings has, when he tried to pretend he was the voice of the lead singer for this band for his band The Guess Who. What an asshole! We will forever love Rare Earth!♡♡♡

64 and 65 in 9 months only once in a great while does a band today even raise an eyebrow with me, so glad I came of age in the late 60's early 70's.
