I heard after a solo at US airways arena in PHX he told the crowd " I just made 150 grand" that doesn't seem professional to me, DLR said " without a guitar in his hands, Eddie's a pretty lousy person"

Known for his tapping technique….but he was so much more. Incredible instrumentalist, songwriter, mad scientist and inventor and one of the greatest rhythm players of all time.

Actually more well known for his riffs and solos.

His rhythm playing was absolutely badass, and sorely overlooked. His timing was impeccable and his intonation always spot on. The dude was super tight, but people only talk about his lead tricks, his soloing skills. He was a monster player, any real musician knows this.

This is a rare soundcheck because DLR showed up. Typically, DLR skipped soundchecks from what I've gathered. I went to the 2nd-to-last-ever concert at the Hollywood Bowl AND soundcheck. DLR was a no-show but the 3 Van Halens were magnificent. That soundcheck may have been the greatest concert I've ever experienced, with that night's concert following in #2. With Ed being sober, his live playing was PERFECT in 2012 and 2015. Seeing Ed walking around and playing in this video still breaks my heart 4 years after we lost him. He was the magic we needed in music.

Joe, as the years go by, it's only human that our voices will change. Keep in mind that it was only 1978 when Van Halen hit it big with this timeless classic. After 42 years, both Eddie and DLR still sounded terrific. Js.
@JoeR203 Жыл бұрын
@@kimsullivan5576 Yeah but I'm talking about the way Dave sings the songs. Providing he can even remember the words. He changes the tempo and ends up sounding like a lounge singer. I know singers can't hit the same notes they used to, but damn, at least have the energy to keep the tempo.

You have to wonder if Dave was even in Eddie's mix. He certainly couldn't have done it with that caterwauling that Dave tried to pass off as singing high in the mix. I'll bet Eddie's monitors were predominantly Alex.
