Bar none, the BEST room and speakers in the show. BTW, those speakers sound really real and natural unlike anything of those Hi Fi junkies. The video does not do justice to those speakers. If I have the money, LOL, those are the end game speakers for me.

I like everything I heard in this presentation. The sound clip is awesome and the quality of the design and the execution is really on a different level. These two guys are doing something very special. Reminds me of Aries Cerat. Different tech but similar results from an informed passionate designer.

Good instrument separation… not quite room filled but still impressive. Must try again with my IEM’s later.

Nice overall sound for the show - they capture the scale well, the timbre of the drums comes across in your recording. It's a warm sound but not soft or overdone. This is a good sounding room. Wonder how it will rank when you are done.

@@davybloggs1564 I heard their room in Seattle PAF 2023 and it was my best sound of show! They were using Mola Mola Tambaqui for digital though.

Focal had a field coil driver on one of their Utopia models. It used to be more common a long time ago before rare-earth magnets became available (like 60 or more years ago).

The demo I sat in for of that speaker at a show (the big Utopia, I think there was one size down that also had the fc drivers) wasn't super impressive, but I think it was because as a system, including room, it wasn't dialled in, and the selections played were not incredibly difficult to render.

The output transformers of the monoblocks are wound by Monolith Magnetics from Belgium.. One of the best ATM. I wish you could’ve visited with the 2A3 monoblocks hooked up..

Was there on Friday and this room sounded great. Very tempted by that Whammerdyne amp for $5K.

Damn this so cool. Field coils would make me step away from my horn setup from fleetwood. What are the msrp on these speakers and the hybrid amp?

I actually don't recall. I might have filmed a sheet with the gear list in a previous attempt to go in this room, but not sure if they had one.

Did a quick search. Songers are on the 30K realm (but they are FCs!), and the hybrid is not out of this world and attainable at 5K

List price on the speakers was 37K but the dedicated power supply was another 3K so 40 total. The integrated amp was about 5 K as a show special and the monoblocks were about 12or13k for the pair.

field coil technology ? ....I thought that was old / obsolete tech....
@chaddraizin6616
@chaddraizin6616 2 жыл бұрын
old, but not obsolete. Just more cumbersome because it requires a DC source. The electromagnets are much more powerful than permanent magnets of the same size, so they have much more control over the driver and more effectively dampen the cone.
@weatheranddarkness
@weatheranddarkness 5 ай бұрын
@@chaddraizin6616 you can't really compare by size. A neodymium motor(or even alnico for that matter) can easily be made higher flux density in the gap than most FC designs, with less motor bulk. The real difference is that it's an active system, there's constant drive on the motor against the push of the voice coil. And then, how much difference that makes is going to depend on a load of factors at differing listening volumes. But it does give a certain something something through some regimes.

Field coil or ferrite, it's still a too large of a driver to reproduce high frequencies. It looks like an unfinished product.
