It takes an army of people to get everything just right. It's so interesting to see all the preparedness behind the scenes and so many details in each endeavor.

IMO, they are the only modern civilization prepared to survive a war without modern warfare. Each guard member is probably capable of turning a regiment of green recruits into winners.

In general, a crown insignia is a major. I could see a horse with a (blanket) has a crown with two pips and that would be for a colonel. At 10:44, an officer with a crown on the blanket would be a major. At 11:08 the officer is likely a lieutenant or captain. At 11:50, the officer would be a colonel. Almost at the end of video a mature age officer whose hamlet with feathers has a crossed batons and a pip on the blanket would be a major general. His sword is also different from other lower ranked officers. Pls correct me if I am wrong.

The older senior officer with the grey hair certainly had to show his horsemanship on Saturday’s trooping the colour as his horse bolted as he was leaving the parade.

The bay (brown) horses are police horses co-opted as mounts for the more desk-bound, older officers. They are absolutely bomb-proof. They usually have blue rosettes on their bridles.

I wondered where they come from. So any guard men officers get police horses. Thank you.

One of those is a Chesapeake Bay, they belong to the Royal Artillery. Some of the very dark but not black ones are the some breed and also belong to the RA. The late Queen rescued the breed from near extinction and gave the the horses to the Royal Artillery.
@heatherharvey31295 ай бұрын
I'm sorry but this year's program for the Trooping of the Colour has information, with photos, on several of the horses used by the senior officers and the blue rosette doesn't signify they are police horses but more likely because they are part of the Household Division Stables, separate to the Cavalry Regiments. The two senior officers, with the white plumes, are riding: the chestnut (not bay) is Jumping Jack,(known as JJ in the stables) who is 17 years old and was a School Horse used for training riding instructors at the Defence Animal Training Regiment at Melton Mowbay before being moved across to the Household Division Stables in 2021 and the Black Irish charger is George, a 23 year old who started with the Blues and Royals in 2008. If you see the footage from the end of last Saturday's Trooping of the Colour ceremony you'll see JJ take off, after a spook, across Horse Guards Parade Ground, across the road and onto the edge of St James Park, before stopping by the barricades, with Major General Bowder managing to stay mounted but losing his feathered cocked hat. It was quite scary to watch for a few seconds.

They are not police horses They belong to the Military. We don't just have black horses. We do have whites and brown.

As some one whose grandfather was in the Royal Horse Artillery in W.W.1 I have to say their horses are an old English breed called Cleveland Bays from Yorkshire. Not Chesapeake as that is a Bay on the coast of Maryland U.S. Queen Elizabeth did step in and buy one of the Salgrave Stallions to stop him leaving the country, a long time ago, the breed was becoming rare.

You'd think any horswman would check his stirrup length before mounting - especially officers.
@spoffspoffington4 ай бұрын
Don't know what a horswman is. But I usually adjust mine when I'm in the saddle. How can you possibly do it by eye beforehand if it's not your own saddle? That's what grooms are for if you're wearing those kind of boots. And in those kind of saddles where you can't reach down and around In any case those are fighting soldiers, however superannuated, who may not have much personal experience of riding, on parade anyway. Foot Guards officers haven't led their columns of marching men into battle since the early days of the Great War (a slight problem with snipers). You really don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about.
@davidstokes84414 ай бұрын
@@spoffspoffington In a well regulated army the officers would have rocked up and hour early and checked their gear. I always checked my stirrup length before getting on.,. The stirrup into the armpit, the fingers to the stirrup hook and arm extended, job right, hop on.

Which is the Colonel, the Major General etc? Which uniform represents each rank? Which rank belongs to the almost entirety black uniform with the thin red piping along the trouser? (Never seen this one before; seems to be a non-riding rank but is then seen mounted too). Anyone have a complete list of mounted ranks and their corresponding uniform? Lastly, why does the Blues and Royals uniform look so black, I always thought it was Navy blue? Perhaps, it's Admiral blue? Anyway, they're all Brilliant!

He can’t get fully dressed before he mounts, like the two guys in bearskins, the two guys with plumes and the other helmet wearer.

Relics,while impressive.. it’s utterly ridiculous that the once largest navy, and supremely tough Brit’s have their ego’s so stuffed in egregious narricism, they have such a horrible stature in real military power. The Brit’s couldn’t save themselves in any manner, since they have no depth in an industrial base.
