Outstanding catch. KCS announced a couple years ago that they were going to build a new yard in Jerseyville Illinois (close to me) but only if the state completed a highway upgrade/extension which they are close to completing but with the whole CN or CP buyout many folks wonder if the yard will still get built. Fingers crossed. Anyhoo thanks for sharing another great video 👍

How close is your state to completing the highway expansion?
@alcopower57103 жыл бұрын
@@z0rzx362 it is actually complete now ahead of schedule. They are just finishing minor details like clean up, signage, etc
@z0rzx3623 жыл бұрын
@@alcopower5710 ah alright… well I’d imagine the yard would still be built, although it would have to be done in no later than a year, since CP has acquired KCS (although they signed a voting trust), the STB is likely to come to a decision late 2022… so if the yard takes over a year, I don’t know how much CP (if the merger goes through, then the CPKC), will value the yard
@alcopower57103 жыл бұрын
@@z0rzx362 I sure hope it happens. When it was announced they said it would bring up to 2000 jobs to the area because it’s supposed to house an industrial complex. Plus some great rail fanning opportunities 😎

Just a tip off from a current NS conductor in Birmingham, KCS power is rather common on our tracks. All of the stack trains we interchange with them in Meridian, MS (225/226, 23E/24E and 219/220) almost always have either KCS or UP power. Other trains that commonly sport KCS or UP power are 340/339 (KCS), 344/345, 355, and 314 (UP). In my experience, the true rare foreign power locomotives are BNSF and CSX, as well as the two Canadian roads and Ferromex

Amazing video, Charlie. Just saw NS 8103, my 11th heritage unit. The reason why we’re getting so much foreign power is since Norfolk Southern has sold off and sent so many locomotives to the scrap yard. They’re thinking about reactivating some of the older locomotives such as the SD70M-2’s. Keep up the great work! - Carter

You guys are pretty lucky down there in Atlanta seeing everything from CSX to BNSF to KCS. Out here in Ontario Canada, it's a lot harder to see foreign power where I am but occasionally theres something like the CN BC rail heritage unit and the BC rail c40-8m.

What a great set of caatches! Thanks for sharing. I live in Oklahoma andwhile BNSF are the dominant eailway, we also get NS, UP, KCS, AMTRACK, and CSX, units with some regularity, and are occasionally given a chance to catch CP, CN, KCS de Mexico, and FERROMEX locomotives passing through. There is a steady stream of trains which makes spotting quite fun.
