I always thought of Frank Miller as a mean ol' Grump when it came to his opinion on social and political issues but he seems kind of extremely laid back here.

After that panel with Tom King, I’m really starting to think Miller just thought the concept was stupid, and wanted to see how far he could push the envelope as a soft protest.

I kind of wish cons would cut down on the pop culture aspect, it's becoming too much of a party. Comic vendors don't make as much as they used to because people aren't there to buy comic books anymore, they're there to take selfies in costumes and be at a panel that will be uploaded to KZbin the following week.

Frank Miller the spirit is a not for everyone yet extremely misunderstood gem I personally enjoyed :-)
@wordragon3 жыл бұрын
That is an understatement. Some people are just not intelligent enough to understand how he combined the original idea of the Spirit's parody with the sense of the grotesque to fashion a fresh way to undermine tropes.

It was really Jim Lee that held that comic book series up. Jim Lee never finished drawing the issues he has Miller scripts for and he's the co-boss of DC with Dan DiDio so it's up to Jim Lee to draw the comic or give it to someone else to draw.
@kurreof30146 жыл бұрын
Psychedelic Stephen not true Jim Lee can finish the book Frank just is used to graphic novels not monthly
@StevieStitches6 жыл бұрын
Jim Lee said that the long delays "had nothing to do with Frank. He's been a prince through this entire process, and I've never had to wait on him. I was swamped with several projects at the same time that went longer than anticipated, and the original intent of All-Star Batman & Robin was that it was only to be six issues. But as we got rolling, the story got bigger and grander, so I'm happy we took the time to develop the relationship between Batman in his prime and his new sidekick. Work then hit a logjam, and I was continually playing catch up. Frank told me in our last meeting that I need to stop, take a deep breath, collect myself and set a realistic date where we could come back out on a regular basis, and that's what we decided to do." www.cbr.com/jim-lee-talks-dark-knight-boy-wonder/

I agree with Michael Scott immediately before me: I guess since my first exposure to Frank was TDKR I assumed he was a bitter old cynic. But he seems like a pretty cool guy actually. The still images of him nowadays didn’t help either. Some of his quotes about Dark knight strikes again also made me think he was a snob artist, but, nah, seems pretty cool. I know I’ll be taking heavy notes from him when it comes to writing inner-monologue in my comics.
@Elfenlied8675309 Жыл бұрын
Frank was always slightly right wingish in his views but his views took a sharp turn when he witnessed 9/11 happen from his New York apartment window. He went on to write some real stinkers like "Holy Terror" an anti Islam comic and according to him, threw out the entire finished script for Dark Knight Strikes Again and remade the entire thing after witnessing 9/11. That original script and original vision has never been mentioned by Miller, all he says is it was drastically different.

Great interview. Even though I do find his recent work low quality, perhaps due to the fact that his earlier work has set the bar way too high, Frank Miller is a legend when it comes to comics. And it's good to see that he seems in good health. The guy is smart and pretty articulate. I hope he finds his mojo back, perhaps with some help from other artists (I found his Lobo/Batman graphic novel simply awesome).

Not anything against Miller's work but Miller's depiction of Wonder Woman was always more negative since he always wrote her as a man hating amazon who could only be "tamed" by Superman like his All Star Batman & Robin, the Boy Wonder.
