I became fascinated with Hank as a kid. My dad was a big fan and was on his way to see him. When he passed away. He's one of the reasons I became a musician, over 33yrs ago. One of my most prized music possessions. Is a live recording of his first performance of Lovesick Blues. On the Opry in 1949.

That this interview has survived is nothing short of answered prayer. It's one thing to be an over the top genius in the studio, as Hank Williams most assuredly was. It's another to get additional insights from the man himself. None better. Ever.

What he put down was poetry with whiskey or shine. We'll hold our hands up here in Canada, we'll look up in the moonlight, we'll salute every 54 and 55 Chevy we see, and we'll keep hoping Hank writes for us and keeps it between St. Peter's lines in the book. Tip us a cup and write us a line and we'll keep looking for that last bottle of wine. For the ghosts out on grid road 777 near Cudworth, we'll keep playing the songs, that keep them coming back for more. God bless the USA. God bless Canada. Let's go honky tonkin'.

Actually Lisa he had Spina Bifida since birth ,his Father wanted to take him to the hospital to get him checked out but Hank's Mother wouldn't hear of it! These days there is a lot known about Spina Bifida bit still no great advancements made on it! I know this because I have a Cousin with the same ailment and she's in constant pain!

Wow i wish i had found this 5 years ago before parents passed. They thought Hank walked on water and they drove to Shpt to see he and Audrey on the Louisiana Hayride. Yes it would be easy to clean this recording if one has the equipment for it....convert to digital first and then edit out pops....But would you want to do that, the pops and crackles are from the era....i would leave them as is....
@jacobmelton42463 жыл бұрын
The original was on a tape i would assume, it was distorted to a point where you couldn’t really tell it was hank, i had to do a lot of messing with it to get it to sound right

Ray....you did a terrific job....i can easily identify those 2...clearly him and her....my mother told me Hank was always trying to satisfy Audreys desire to sing but she had zero voice for it.....i was 2 months when Hank died....and i came from the time of vinyl, analog recording tape....the quality is the age of the tape...now that it is digitized it will no longer degrade.....again BRAVO for finding and posting this....and go to Montgomery and visit Hanks grave

@thewerepyreking Жыл бұрын
I'm sure a simple sort of filter would fix it. But even better, do an actual Fourier transform, pick out the popping frequencies, make some sharp filters that only impact the popping

Heard him say it was Alex City.....that would be Alexander City Alabama. It is located on the shores of Lake Martin where the Lodge is located that holds the Kawliga Lodge. That is where he got the idea for the tune Kawliga from the carved Indian standing by the door. An Alabama boy through and through. In my opinion the best who has ever sung country music.

Here's one I've never heard before. It sounds like it was originally just Hank and his guitar, either as a demo or a performance from one of his radio shows. Judging by the audio quality of the backing track, it sounds like they were added later through overdubbing. Some of his posthumously released recordings were done in that fashion, such as "We Live in Two Different Worlds" and "Weary Blues (From Waitin')". In fact, the backing musicians were recorded in stereo, which couldn't have been done during Hank's time because the technology either didn't exist or was just in the experimental stages.

That sounds an awful lot like Webb Pierce interviewing him, except that Hank said "Hello Bob" at the beginning.
