I have no personal experience of riding any motorbike but I can easily see the attraction. Some have said HDs are not great bikes I can't comment on that. But I think they look superb and their owners appear to look after their investment well. The camaraderie that seems to exist is also admirable. I had never seen bikers en mass until last month in Slovenia. Loads of bikers (on their way to Austria I gather) stopped at lake Bled and I was excited enough to get a lot (well some) of video of them to include in my hiking club's holiday video. Have a look if you like looking at bikes, bikers and you enjoy some KZbin free rock music! You can jump to the last third of the video. The thumbnail is a biker. I will put the link in another comment if you don't mind in case it gets put in spam.

Vrod was inspired by HD vr 1000 race bike. Of which that vr1000 motor was developed by people like Roush Eric Buell and Cosworth. The bike was engineered in both Germany and Kansas City Missouri. Or NKCMO and was built in NKC MO. Sportster final assembly plant. Porsche l think designed the frame l hear and helped Harley develope a costly race motor to be dependable reliable and affordable. Willy G had final say on all design aspects. So yes Porsche was involved but it was a harley through and through
