If camera phones and social media existed back then we'd have seen all kinds of horrifying photos from offices inside the impact zones.

Yeah, and we would also have people taking a selfie with the duck face and peace sign with the towers burning and people jumping out of windows in the background. And most sure enough people would be walking around taking pictures of the jumpers on the ground splattered everywhere and posting them on tiktok. I'm kind of glad we didn't have those back then.

I think there's a photo of a guy way up top during the attack who looked like they had a video camera or camera of some sort? I forget where, maybe it was the cell phone guy who was holding it as they jumped. But I think it looked like someone was recording or taking photos but likely destroyed in the crash. If it happened today it would've been ridiculously insane

I worked for an investment bank on the 22nd floor of a building that had the same set up. Lots of cubicles in the middle with offices and conference rooms either near the windows or in the middle across the floor from the windows. There was a reason for this- one is because we needed privacy (albeit not exactly super private like an office) to make phone calls and talk with colleagues about stuff we were working or collaborating on. The trading floors however were completely open and very chaotic. The way the floors were set up was necessary for function. Pretty much every office building I ever worked in or visited had the same set up like this.

At 0:26 the plane that was actually United flight 175 crashing into the south tower from the inside view was actually made by CGI & it was from a documentary called "Inside the Twin Towers" from the part where Stanley Prainmath recounts about what happened on 9/11 when he was at work & at his desk where the plane had a direct hit towards the floor where he was working

@4:21 some of the office space leased were actually multi-floored rentable spaces so had internal staircases that only employees of the lease holder could access. This was so that staff could move between floors without the need to use the elevator or use the emergency stairwells in the core. I once worked in an office tower that had similar features. Whilst we could use the emergency stairwells to traverse floors, most of us used the internal ones like in this photo because they were in open space, better lit and not as cold/dank as the emergency stairwells that ran the entire building.

*They put the air vents for cooling/heating in that position as that is where the heat load/ cold load comes in through the windows. They are put there for that exact reason. I know this as I am a HVAC refrigeration mechanic and we installed Ducted Cooling and Heating systems into huge buildings/skyscrapers like this as well as smaller buildings and houses. That's the reason why they are placed right near the windows and the ducting is enclosed in the bulkhead on the ground to hide the ducting.💯*

Been going down a Depressed Ginger 9/11 rabbit hole since discovering your channel. I enjoy reading the comments as much as the videos themselves. I’d love to see (and don’t recall this anywhere else) a video on how the high jackers were able to navigate the planes with no real experience and actually hit their targets. (They only have vaguely mentioned taking flight school in FL) I think watching these hypothetical pieces is so addictive because it helps to add some sort of closure and understanding to an event that’s impossible to comprehend

The hardest part of flying an airplane is takeoff and landing. There have been many examples of non pilots taking control of a plane mid flight and navigating it to where it needs to go with analog controls. But these guys weren’t completely ignorant on how to fly a plane, many of them had been to flight school and had time in simulators. They also had written instructions that they studied. Just taking a plane and driving it where it needs to go isn’t that difficult. I think the idea that they weren’t skilled enough to navigate the planes to the towers came from the conspiracy theories. It’s important for them to produce as much evidence as they can to support their position that they didn’t know enough about flying to actually pull off the attack, but it just doesn’t align with reality.

You should do a video on how the Hijacker's got into the cockpit, I don't think it's entirely certain how it was done, Betty Ong just said they jammed their way up there. I think I saw a video on how easy it would be and quick once the door opens, and the pilots sometimes would open the door to go to the restroom, etc. And it only takes about 2 seconds for the hijackers to quickly squeeze into the door and close it

The 30 hudson yards tower with the deck opened in spring 2019. almost 5 yrs ago and it's a popular tourist spot. it's almost as tall as the twins were. 400m/1300ft, 77 stories. and it's very thick so the floor space must be massive. the tower and the whole new area with several huge towers was built on top of the hudson rail yard (it's still there but it's hidden underground)

And people wonder why the fires were so bad and spread so quickly. Clutter festival with literally every single thing being flammable. I worked in a skyscraper on an executive floor for a few years and thankfully less cubicle than that with a nice view from the 35th. Later I moved to the arts sector and got to work in a converted century building with high ceilings and huge windows in a proper, open-floor layout. Much, much nicer. The twin towers office layouts give me claustrophobia…like, pay all that money to be up there and then cram it full like that? So strange.

You're correct, this photo to me looks like it's taken from approximately 2010 or '11 by the looks of those 2 Dell's that seems to have a 16:9 screen ratio by the rear of it. Where's the proof that this picture was taken inside one of the twin towers as by the focus of the photo it looks too high definition, doesn't look year 2001-ish compared with the other photos seen in this video. To my knowledge lcd flat screen monitors came out in 2004 or '05 and they were 4:3 screen format ratio (first ones monitors) while these 2 Dell's appear to be a 16:9, even though the low wall height around the rear of the desk is obstructing the bottom half. If these did exist in 2001 i would not bought my July, 2002 '19 inch Gericom CRT monitor and buy one of these instead, Lol😅

They had the tridents at the lobby to have wider windows in the lobby. They then split into three columns to strengthen the floors.
@marks6663
@marks6663 9 ай бұрын
The design had the load being supported by the perimeter walls. This is why the windows were so narrow. They needed those huge steel girders to carry the load so that they did not need to use concrete posts going through every floor. The walls, in turn, were held to each other by the floor trusses spanning the open floor plan. So when the trusses softened due to the heat of the fire, the building was doomed. So you could not remove any of the floors to open up the space any further. Firemen had a saying prior to this which was , 'never trust a truss'.

Great stuff! However, the photo at 3:14 is definitely not from the former WTC. Flat computer screens were rarely seen back in 2001 (especially in 'old fashioned' judicial or accounting offices) and even if you saw one, it would have been a 4:3 "square" screen and not a 16:9 "rectangular" screen. Also, Cisco IP phones such as the one pictured on the desk were not necessarily widespread at the time, as they were just beginning to be popular and had a smaller screen, B/W screen. That photo may be from the new 7 WTC.

Very low ceilings. The offices look awful. The design of the twin towers was so extremely dated that they started looking obsolete by the mid 90's. If they were still up today they would be hideous compared to all the modern and classic designs around them. The art deco designs of the Empire State building and Chrysler building however are timeless and still look good after being up for around 100 years.
@TheNystedt
@TheNystedt Жыл бұрын
I have a friend who worked in the Empire State Building, somewhere around floor 60, and I visited his office on multiple occasions. Despite the art deco exterior, and lobby (which is also dated, but beautiful), the interior office spaces were extremely cramped, run down and out of style. There are pillars every few feet obstructing things, and the ceilings are just as low, maybe even lower than, the twin towers were. I never went up into the twin towers, but I did walk through the lobbies and down into the mall. They're dated in that they were designed in the 60's and built in the 70's, just like the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings are dated because they' were designed and build in the 20's. But the lobbies of the towers, to me, were and are gorgeous and felt very much like a light filled cathedral. If the towers were still standing, I can't imagine they would have ever updated the lobbies since they were so beautiful, despite being tied to a certain era. But the office spaces were rented, and it was entirely upon the renters to renovate and decorate as they saw fit, and because of the open floor plan, they had a lot more flexibility compared to older skyscrapers like the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings. .

The low ceilings are due to those zig-zag pattern ceiling beams, (seen here on KZbin when the twin towers were in construction) also used and seen on hardware stores roofs for example that have around 40 centimeters of height to reinforce the trusses, floor plaques and those fake ceilings with rectangular plaques with black dots and recessed flourescent lights are placed to cover and disguise the looks, (seen on all offices and schools) having the hallow space for installation of air vents, water pipes causing the ceiling to be 40 something centimeters lower than it should

I think one of the reasons they wanted an open floor plan was not so much because tenants actually desired a full open floor plan, but so that the rentable space could be easily configured however the tenants wanted without structural elements in the way. For instance, if a new tenant comes in, they could easily tear down and build new walls in a different configuration to however the tenants wanted it.

God future generations will hate us for giving them such ugly buildings, seriously after the second world war the beauty was torn apart, people no lonver have an eye for the beautiful things, i'm not talking about baorque or such, but perhaps 1910 neoclassical simplistic architecture, which looks quite modern with some beautiful ornaments, it is so sad, even skyscrapers could be beautiful, hopefully one day we'll leave this ugly unfriendly architecture behind, it looks very hostile and uninviting, like looking at European cities, with ornamental buildings and such, it's so lovely, and most people come with reasons such as "It would be way too expensive" "Can't be done anymore" etc, Those modernistic glass and concrete boxes cost way more, plus looking at reconstructions around the world, for example the Berliner Stadtschloss ( Germanys version of buckingham palace ) was rebuilt recently, and looks magnificent, we're still able to. Let's return to Beauty, and make cities feel inviting and friendly again!

Prior to the attacks, the interior is a time capsule of the 70s-90s era office space look so by the time 2001 rolled around, the interior was outdated but it was something that I could guess a lot of people still considered their second home, not out of negativity or too much work but because it was *THEIR* place. It probably didn't matter to a lot of peoplee that the towers were (literally and metaphorically) square; it was their look ontop of the world. I actually do like the thin windows. A lot of office have much larger windows but if you have an issu with heights that...can REALLY throw you into a tail spin. The thiner windows allows you to have that long look but it feels more, for the lack of better terms, secure because you don't have all that open space around your that throws your brain off and makes you think you're leaning out too far. All this does is highlight the humanity that was inside those buildings when all of this happened.

The survivors have said there was panic and confusion and everything was chaos so I highly doubt anyone considered or even attempted to take pictures of the impact zones. There are pictures of the lobby and firefighters going up the stairs in the north tower tho. I suggest watching the Naudit Brothers documentary, Jules (one of the brothers) followed the first firefighters on scene and recorded alot, he even recorded their escape from the north tower after the south tower fell.

There is a point where the plane first touched the window without breaking it for that split second the plane and building were still two separate entities

Well the whole design of the twin towers was a tube structure, The support beams around the perimeter of the building dictated the size of the windows. The way the building was designed allowed 40 percent less steel than a conventional building. Saving weight was the name of the game.

it's not a case of they would have stood longer with a different design, skyscrapers aren't built to have planes flown into them. I loved the design. The truss system would need strengthening.

A number of the floors were completely stripped to the bare metal and the fire proofing being renewed. May have still been ongoing when 9/11 happened.

So this is how all corporate interiors looked between 1975 and 1995. Bland, utilitarian, impersonal. No bright colors, cushy seating or foosball tables.

The interiors of the upper floors of twin towers look so dated. The low ceiling heights and excessive systems furniture make them all look like rat hole workstations. I don’t think a potential remodel of the towers if 9/11 never occurred, would have allowed for removing any intermediate floor structures to open up the building interiors. The outdated buildings pretty much got free demolition by the planes that destroyed it.

People laugh at cubicles, but actually its much better than open plan, nowdays its almost impossible to concentrate on your work in the open plan environment, simply too many distractions all day long, I would prefer to work in a cubicle and be more productive any day!

How you just discredit the money influence that was in these buildings and you just go oh, it was the way they told us. It's really disheartening man when you really have an interest in it this much to this volume. I'd take a break if I were you. And really look at The Roots of this. And then see if you want to continue doing the research you're doing about it

Some of the comments here are effing hilarious! There’s a jetliner just about to hit my office at 500mph+/-. Within the next couple of seconds I’m going to be cremated alive or I’ll be squished like a bug on a windscreen, or both simultaneously. Alternatively I’ll throw myself out of a window only to become purée ten seconds later or even worse I’ll choke whilst waiting to be crushed beyond recognition by god knows how many thousands of tons of concrete and steel. Hang on, I’ll just get my camera for your entertainment. Duh!
