My thoughts exactly. Either he got them later in life or suppressed them back than and now doesn't care anymore. Or they were cut out or something

its interesting how seems like right from the start he already had his identity and what his field of works are, and has remained consistent since

It's so cool to see that! Zizek's voice sounds similarly to how it sounds now. It's nice to see him from a professional perspective too.

Sometimes I like to use chat gpt for zizekian critiques of other thinkers he’s not yet mentioned. It can be surface level and not very sophisticated but it’s a bit of fun

Comparatively, his speaking abilities have degraded since then. In this video, he could make a coherent statement about his work. Now, all his monologues are complete disorder. He starts one sentence, breaks it in the middle to give some far-fetched examples, then breaks the examples to give some anecdotes, then starts talking about sth. else. He uses big words, and is a character, but in the end you end up wondering: "what is actually his viewpoint?"

I'm pretty sure he had a stroke. Edit: From cursory research, some people think it's Bell's palsy, while others say that Zizek himself says he had a stroke a few years back. Can't find actual video of him saying that, and my attention won't allow me to look into this further lol

@@Kitajima2 I always thought that stroke affects speech "technically", so the speech may be mumbled, impaired, but not the intelligence of the speaker or their "non-technical" communication skills.
