Sweet ike jacket, I really enjoy seeing all the uniforms in your collection, as uniforms are by far my favorite thing to collect.

when i 1st saw the 5th army uniform i was like "what the???" in relation to the title of the video. then you panned over showing the 442nd patch and i was like "wow! ok. i get it." 3:11 looks like 80th "blue ridge" division to me. pretty sure the whistle signifies squad leader. pretty interesting photo! wonder if they were family, or just "brothers from another mother" lol. that ijn vehicle badge is something special. boy the wood on the murata is so small it makes you wondered why they even bothered and didnt just make a one piece handle. great bunch of stuff!
@JonBoyMilitaria5 күн бұрын
Thanks. I had kinda thought that patch looked like 80th also. Maybe they were just brothers from another mother lol. That bayonet handle is super small.

My Grandfather fought alongside General Pershing in the Mexican Campaign and then in France in WWI. He was awarded two Silver Stars. I have one and my cousin has the other one. As a kid I used to go in his attic looking for Army stuff, but I never found any. He probably had it in a foot locker for which I believe I have his key along with his other medals. When he passed my Grandmother and Aunt threw away his two swords. As a kid I asked him if he brought any guns back from the war and he told me no and went on to say that he was discharged when he remembered he still had his .45 and he took it back. I guess he had enough of war.

God Bless him. I bet he was an awesome man. That's great that y'all still have his Silver Stars. That stinks that his swords were thrown away. Thanks for sharing.

Great items! I really like that 442nd Ike jacket. I’ll have to research that unit. I collect a lot of WW2 Japanese so these items peaked my interest. I’m glad you included that IJN anchor hanger in this video. Saw it in the original video and wanted to hear more about it. Nice job with the research and information. Excellent as always. Keep up the good work.👏👏

I want to correct my statement about my Grandfather's swords. When he passed away my Grandmother and Aunt sold his sords, they did not throw them away - they sold them probably because they needed the $$$. Take care and God bless, Ken

As always, top notch items and a wonderful explanation of everything. Greatly appreciative of all your efforts, Jonboy. For a first time collector of WW2 Militaria, what advice would you give somebody as to where to start? And…what would you have done differently if you were to start from scratch again?

with the ww 1 photo , use magnification on that patch , go by the size and shape of the patch and what you can see on it and reference it from there .looks like a thrid division insignia ?
@JonBoyMilitaria4 күн бұрын
I'm pretty sure it is the 80th Infantry Division. Some others have mentioned it as well.
@rockinghammilitaryantiques38845 күн бұрын
The guys in the photo look like they're wearing the patch for the 80th infantry division. You can kind of see the 3 humps representing mountains on the shoulder of the guy in the front with his patch most exposed
