Which of these two arts do you prefer for Dark Paladin? Personally, I think the close-up art for Duel Master's Guide looks like a portrait, which is pretty uncommon in Yu-Gi-Oh art, so it's my pick!

The portrait of Dark Magicians were always preferable. The LOB one looks strange, but still feels awesome next to the Arcana and Anniversary Pack one.

I feel like the correct version has the cooler stance, but the background with the spellbinding circle really makes the alternate artwork stand out. Maybe they could combine the two card artworks for a later rerelease.

I had a misprint that was arguably rarer. I had a 1st Ed Cyber Phoenix that had the name Destruction of Destiny and the Ulti Foil layer of Chainsaw Insect, which wasn’t even in the same set as the Phoenix.

@@GoBlueHTBnope, I got my hands on 3 of the misprints/errors. Got one myself and the other 2 came from kid antics. Being that I offered multiple cards to trade for one. It worked twice for the misprint/error version; I was 7 at the time thinking it was a good idea lol. But when it came to reprints of the corrected artwork, I had about 2 of them, just not the 1st edition of the corrected artwork.

Misprints are always cool, which also makes the Secret Ultra-rarity(Which only two cards from all the way back in LOBEWD belong to, appearently) the coolest rarity by default.

The term “misprint” here is being applied to the normal card of Dark Paladin that was originally printed, only a misprint based on intentions of Konami rather than actually being an error card. Any original box of MFC contains that art of DP so it’s less a misprint and the updated version is more just a “corrected artwork” version. I say this because on eBay people will Jack up the prices on the normal dark paladins calling it a “misprint” when it’s really just the standard version.

Okay, so looking at the cards online, the missprint 1st edition ranges from $35-$350, depending on the condition. The lowest I saw the 1st edition with the correct artwork was $2,510.40. That's why you sent the card in.

I was a big time set collector at that time, and I heard about the mistake. When I heard that they were going to make a redemption for the first edition, I ended up sending one in and got the corrected version in first edition. I have both versions on my completed set of MFC. If I could put a picture here to show, I would. My wife at that time was mad that I spent an extra $100 at that time to get the corrected version, as well as the error version. I guess I can say it was well worth the money, and one of the very few that have the complete MFC 1st edition of both the error and corrected version. 😊

I remember when my dad bought me that duel master pack with both blue eyes and dark magician. I was mind blown. Couple years later my dog pissed on my entire card collection which included several first edition blue eyez. I feel asleep on the floor one day with my cards in lap. I went thru my rare cards first followed by mid cards and fell asleep during the last crap cards. I had 2 stacks of cards that were my prized cards and my dog pissed all over the place. I gave up that day. I was probably 9 or 10. Still had plenty of time to collect man.

The story is that a lot of people kept the misprint thinking that it would be worth more in the future only for less reprints to be released, resulting in the reprint being more valuable than the original misprint

I have a gold plated, gold gadget with a gold background... the background is supposed to be orange. It's never seen sunlight, it came out of the packet, went straight into a sleeve and into a folder. The other ones i got had the normal backgrounds. I'm pretty certain it's gotta be worth a lot.

Dang. I had opened a booster pack, and it contained the dark paladin misprint. I was so happy to have gotten it. It was my all-time favorite card. And made for a cool deck addition, too. But it was stolen when some other kids were looking through my deck. :( I was so upset about it for weeks.

Back when Magicians Force 1st and Unlimited Edition came out, I was the only one in my friend group to pull Dark Paladin (an unlimited edition print) and got tons of requests for a trade but i just smugly slipped it into my extra deck and successfully played it in the very next casual game.

I have both versions of that card, but sadly on my OG cards which I had a lot of rare, first additions got destroyed, and all burned up in the fire and the ones that weren’t destroyed. Had that permanent smoke damage smell to them and I couldn’t save them and one things for sure if I still had them it would help me with my situation with money problems right now and I mean I would never sell my cards cause I love them that much but it would’ve helped the situation. I’m in now again I’m still sad that I don’t have my cards anymore, I did get them back eventually but they’re secondary prints so I was kind of happy but it’s not the same. I really miss my cards. The ones that got burned up and damaged in the fire.

The misprint was in every 1st edition of this set and a decent looking copy of it is worth about 400 to 800 in the EU, while the corrected art currently reaches up to 15.000€ because very few actually took Konami's offer.
