I would say violent is the wrong word, but it sure got heated, as every protest does. Amongst those people are radicals, that dont agree with the government, so they clash with frontline police officers.

@@HeavyHanded With respect there were other protests going on at the same time in the UK which dis have violent element amongst them. My brother attended the XR protests and I can assure you he did not report any violence, in fact the police appeared to be at a loss as what to do as there was no violence to confront.

I’ve noticed a lot of emergency vehicles have number plates beginning BX do you know why so many are registered in Birmingham?
@ThamesValley9993 жыл бұрын
When the vehicles are bought in bulk they all usually have the same registration as its where the company who sourced them are able to get that many from with similar number plates. If multiple forces go to the same provider alot of the time they will get the same reg prefix as some other forces.
@central18503 жыл бұрын
As info.above. The met. get their vehicle 's prepared and decommissioning done by Babock on.a site in Walsall, West Midlands..hence the Birmingham plates.

Some form of TSG Van i believe. Thank you!
@thefiestaguy88313 жыл бұрын
I'm serving in the Met. I policed this event several days last week. The van in question is unlikely to be TSG, since they don't use unmarked vehicles as it effectively defeats the purpose. The van is more likely to be the specialist team who turn up and remove protestors from buildings, or unglue them from the road, or glass buildings, etc. There's a clip on YT somewhere from last year of one of the met's extraction teams being lifted up on a crane type machine and attaching an XR protestor to himself from the top of something quite tall, before being lowered down and then being arrested by officers.
@k9officerft4343 жыл бұрын
@@thefiestaguy8831 I still can’t believe they glued themselves to the road
@thefiestaguy88313 жыл бұрын
@@k9officerft434 Makes it harder for them to be removed, the officers can't just pick them from the floor once the glue's set because it will rip their skin off, breach of their rights of course, so they deal with it slow time, get engineering teams in who specialise in cutting and removal to deal with it, once they are either cut free or unglued, then an officer will do the arrest.

These sorts of things are a waste of police time and resources that will undoubtedly lead to people complaining about the police not investigating cases. This is why (besides lack of funding and manpower). Because of stupid protests like this dragging them away from investigating crimes.

Only front white lights on the unmarked van at 1:50 strange
@thefiestaguy88313 жыл бұрын
Blue lights aren't necessarily required, it just needs some form of warning lights. The newer Met Astra's and the Pegeout 308 SW's have flashing white LED's in the grille, and the 308 has two flashing LED lights mounted to the front of the grill, but no flashing blues on the grille itself, only on the top lightbar. A bright white flash often stands out more than a bright blue flash, since white tends to be more noticeable than a blue flash, especially in the daytime.

All Brummie reg plates, why is this?
@thefiestaguy88313 жыл бұрын
Because the Met buy their vehicles from Babcocks engineering, formerly S Macneille & sons, of Walsall, West Midlands. Babcocks buy hundreds of vehicles each month from various manufacturers at near cost price, kit them out, and then deliver them to various police stations across several different forces. As they buy a large quantity of vehicles, they get significant cost reduction meaning they can buy them at near enough cost price, whereas if the force bought them, by the time they've then fitted the equipment, (lightbar, siren, decals, IDR (a form of telematics black box) radios, control units, wiring, etc, the cost is significantly higher. Essentially it saves the police forces a LOT of money, just fitting a car out with all the kit required runs into the thousands of pounds, that's AFTER you've actually bought the car. Babcocks also do repairs and maintenance on the fleet, a lot of forces across the country use similar methods, but some have their own repair workshops and it's done in house.

I’ve never seen so many police as I did at the XR protests. So many random hire vans as well because they ran out of met vans I guess. A completely over the top response
@stevencrouch60363 жыл бұрын
My guess is the response is so big because they know the public like the last time these idiots done these criticised the police's response & in some cases took matters into there own hands.
@thefiestaguy88313 жыл бұрын
Not overkill at all, I was sat on London bridge a few days back on standby policing this. 400-500 XR protestors were being escorted by officers and tried to gain entry to London Bridge station, the 10 BTP officers that were there refused them entry, had they kicked off or tried to storm the station, they'd have had no chance. Definitely NOT over the top, it's easy to criticise as an outsider looking in, try being there.

Police play political games with these protesters and prioritize their right to protest over their job to prevent breach of the peace and keep the m25 moving. This woke game the met and man6 forces have played has not worked and now we have senior officers who can't police effectively.
