I grew up in Brooklyn and started my martial arts journey in 1973. The Tong Dojo, and Sensei's Cofield and LaPuppet, were the real deal. NO ONE did Shotokan like those two. Does anyone remember Maynard Minor? I believe he preceded both these karateka....
