Just look at his appearance on Sullivan. Ed had Elvis, the Beatles, and Mick Jagger on, but none of them looked at dangerous or compelling as Jim. From his black leathers to the way he held the microphone, you couldn't keep your eyes off of him.

I read five biographies on him. There will never be a day in my life when I question if he died in the Summer of 71. Because Jim absolutely rode it down. He tore his body up and of course his voice, doing way excessive drinking, drugs, and tobacco. Jim did not have anything left by the time he died. His girl said he would stare into the mirror in their Paris apartment for long periods. He DID try to write some poetry and songs, but he was disgusted BY them;-- he knew they were not up to his previous work. He was also losing it mentally. He was NOT in good enough shape to perform, and he KNEW he was never gonna perform again. I think he KNEW that his music would last forever, and indeed it is doing very well today on classic rock radio. He was not the only guy who KNEW that what they did would last forever. He knew he had created some great music. But he was wrecked in terms of his health, and he was smart enough to know THAT... as well. The lesson anyone can take from his life is do NOT combine alcohol and heroin.

the car was sold to Ray's Hi Performance in Irwindale Ca were it was restored and documented for sale as late as October 1971 it most likely was sold with a salvage title using the original Ford VIN # as the Shelby VIN was an aluminum tag riveted to the front fender apron that was most likely destroyed by Jimbo..Most of us know the Shelby VIN car # 939 but only the folks at the Shelby registry know the Ford VIN..good luck getting that one from them. the car was registered to Jim but under the holding company Johnson and Harband.. so I doubt any family had any legal rights to the car .@@lynnh7694

Great, candid photos that few have seen of a rock legend. Growing up with The Doors' music playing on my parent's stereo, I also realized what a talent he was.......even at age 10. Sometimes, we can be our own worst enemy. Jim Morrison was dealing with many demons that took control of his life. He was also an intelligent man with deep emotions. Through the years, I often wondered how many people tried to help him. But then again, you have to want it yourself. His girlfriend Pam was a terrible influence over him. It was obviously a codependent, very dysfunctional relationship. Imagine the horror of his family not being able to bury him here in the US and have some closure. If you haven't seen the movie, "The Doors", starting Val Kilmer, I strongly suggest seeing the movie. It is great.

To be in the same room with Jim Morrison would like he was my teacher and I was his student !!! I want to believe that Jim just got up and went to live on a island living out his day's. The sad truth is he was too far good physically and mentally 😢 Doctor's had repeatedly told Jim to quit his alcohol usage as early as 1968. Three years later Jim left us with his poetry, song's, a smile, his love of literature and sanged to us to " Break on Through".

One of my favorites is Jim wearing a wreath around his head like Dionysus.

:50 - Jim somehow morphed into a disturbed version of Bob'cat' Goldwaith circa md-80's.

From looking at a lot of these newly released photos of Morrison, because of the internet, I can glean that: a.) He appeared at times a lot more insecure about himself than what his myth has led us to believe about his extreme confidence. b.) He was extremely photogenic, in that seldom was a bad photo taken of him at any angle where he didn’t persuade the viewer to think of him as almost a statuesque Greek God figure (this no doubt led to the mythological perception of him as extremely confident). There are a few photos though where I see extreme insecurity pouring out of him. He was only human and a lot happened to him all at once.

The word "legend" is overused, except when you're referring to Jim Morrison. Jim Morrison was a *legend*
