This series has been one of the strangest things I've ever seen. I loved it. Thank you very much for publishing and subtitling.

Holy fuck thank you for saying this. I have never been so bewildered or laughed so hard at a simple talk show interview, I don't know what world I'm in anymore

Well that was a rollercoaster of a series. One of the most engaging, unintentionally funny and fascinating things I've ever watched. And even though by the end it leaves you wondering about how much of what was said was true, it still gives a lot of insight into NWR's persona, his body of work and Danish film industry in general. P.S. Needless to say how grateful I am for the subs! I used to translate and edit subtitles as a hobby back in the day, so I totally understand the amount of work and diligence it takes, so yeah, thanks a lot.

"The 11th Hour" was one of my favorite TV-shows back then. It walked the fine line between being intellectual, sarcastic and absurd. It is so refreshing with an honest interview that does not have a hidden advertisement agenda.

That was some great television. The true potential of this media. The media in my country went straight to shit. And sometimes in pains me to watch something like this. To realise what it could've been. Very sad. But i want to thank you for your work.

Thats what happens when you have a strong public service sector and not leave it all to the market' lowest common denominator.

There's a lot to learn about movie production in this episode. It gives some good insights on how things work. Is there another 1 hour episode after that or it's finished? Also, did they published a book or it was canceled. Thank you for taking the time to translate this show! :)

Glad to hear that. Unfortunately the book was never published, nor did they continue this series of interviews. This was the final episode with Jang.

Sad, I wished they actually made that one hour special episode. That would have been really interesting!! But I guess that at that point Nicolas was tired of the nasty questions. hehe

He actually fucked them over, that's the whole point of this episode. They realized he was playing the victim and managed to be the focus of attention, which is all he ever wanted. He didn't reveal anything, he was sometimes honest (e.g: when he cried) but most of the time he was just pretending to be a dumb insecure guy. As he said, he's good at selling and convincing. It's not surprising to know they didn't bother to do another episode or to publish the book. Now, Refn is one of the most influential directors in the world and these guys are unknown outside of Danmark.

ChicagoMonsterPunk: You're making it sound like Bertelsen and Brügger wants to be known outside of Denmark. Not everybody has the urge or craving to hit it big like Jang does. I think you are putting way too much of your own interpretation into this. The overall purpose as it is with anything in the media business was to make interesting television and they did that together with Jang who furthermore used the opportunity to PR himself. In the end they all won and so did the viewers, cause it made for very interesting television.

What I wonder is if the whole producer story was true? I mean isn't Henrik the producer on Valhalla? And how much of the Lars thing was true? I guess it all should be true, he could have acted a bit here and there, but its not like the whole show was fake is it?

The Bodnia stuff seems completely possible, given how Bodnia has a reputation of being notoriously difficult to work with. Given the horror stories you hear about Lars von Trier that stuff seems reasonably possible too. Given Winding Refn has a pretty forceful personality it's easy to see how he would butt heads with Bodnia who seems pretty forceful too. What really comes off in this interview is a pretty stark difference to the regular interviews with Winding Refn where uses a persona, but here he comes off as pretty naked.
