Live entertainment at the parks are in the cross-hairs of any bean-counter looking to save a few bucks for the company. So many actor driven entertainment offerings (Fantasyland Theater? Golden Horseshoe? Hyperion Theater? Nighttime Parades? Dr. Strange? Newsies? Tinkerbell at Fireworks?) are now vacant or the position has been eliminated altogether. I don't see the DLR adding anything long-lasting or permanent. We had all these choices until recently when they just started fading away with no replacements. It was nice when management didn't consider human beings (Cast Members) a draw on the resources instead of a huge reason why we visit in the first place.

Well put. No Tinkerbell? Haven’t been in a couple yrs… That’s too bad! Hated losing the Golden Horseshoe show, and what the heck is going on with Hyperion & Fantasyland Theater? I looked for the magician on Mark Twain, but seemed like he lasted maybe a few days. The vids I saw were so good! Dang disappointing all around. Used to be nothing but live entertainment everywhere you went, and they were great draws to cut lines down. Sigh.

This is the type of things they need to do to keep the lead on Universal on both coasts. Lean into Disney’s storytelling and show aspects. No one does it better when they actually put in the effort and cost. Few things felt more ‘Disney’ to me than walking the kids through the park years ago and happening on a Wild West show randomly in front of the Golden Horseshoe. The unexpected show elements and great cast need to return.

I still think the biggest problem with Galaxy's Edge is that there is nothing for younger kids to do. Both rides have height requirements. Bringing back Jedi Academy would help but the land just needs a couple of small rides to fill in its spaces.

Some concept art had a ride where people were going to be able to ride one of the larger star wars creatures around the entire section. I really wish that they had kept that, precisely because it was a ride that likely had no major height restriction, but also was going to add more kinetic energy to the land. Would have been a win-win.

New Hope indeed. Other than a few characters walking around, the area is sadly lacking for live entertainment. I've always been disappointed that the ship at the eastern entrance never has any activity going on when I enter or leave. I'm sure Disney spent a ton on that ship, they should be using for more than just eye candy.

Subscribed! I was at the park in May and Kylo Ren and a first order officer and some other characters (maybe even Rey - not sure) came out on the stage by Kylo's ship. They were taking orders and Kylo was doing his Kylo thing. It was awesome. Just a taste of what's to come I hope!

I have a few friends who grew up as kids in the 1970s and are still around today to appreciate the new Star Wars films and they loved the new sequels better than the 1990s prequels, and just as much as they do the original trilogy. The premiere of every one of the original trilogy when he was growing up and he went to the premiere of every single new sequel trilogy film as well, and he loves all of it. I didn't grow up in the '70s, I'm a '90s kid, but I love all of Star Wars

I think the capitalization of the original trilogy in the parks is looong gone, maybe was with Star Tours changing with “Adventures Continue”. Disney is definitely focusing on younger audiences, new characters and new stories.

A Jawa droid factory coaster, similar to the Indiana Jones coasters in some Disney Parks, with indoor and outdoor sections would add kinetics, audible joy, and classic beloved Star Wars characters (Jawas AND droids) that can exist in any time-line. It would be behind Olga's and accessible from large doors by Kylo Ren's ship.

There's two ways I would love to see them improve the character aspect: Either sections of Batuu are set up so characters from certain eras only show in said eras. You would never get a photo with both Vader and Kylo, but they COULD be in Batuu at the same time this way. OR if they got really clever, the trilogy they are focusing on changes through the day. Every 2 hours the flags change on the Docking Bay 9, switching from First Order, to Empire, to the Republic flags. Kylo and First order storm troopers come out, then later it's Darth Vader and Empire Storn Troopers, then Anakin and Clone Troopers, again, timed with the flag changes, so if you're a diehard fan, you could get photos of you on Batuu through the entire Trilogy of Trilogies. The actors have to come in and out on a fairly set schedule anyway, I would think it would be possible to coordinate this. A lot of stuff wouldn't need to be changed because a lot of Batuu seems like it would have stayed fairly the same over the years. The only thing I can think of that might be an issue is the ships that you see. Now if they somehow shoved those on some rotating platforms to swap them out, I would lose my mind.

We can agree to disagree. I especially love what they've done in the shows, and I'm stoked they finally brought in Mandalorian. I hope to see Ashoka and Thrawn there soon. Thrawn was one of my favorite villains in the old EU and I honestly love what they've done with him in the new cannon. Granted, I am bummed I'll never get to see Mara Jade and some of those others in there.

It’s so simple that they refuse to do this is just spite. At each entrance to GE a sign tells you when we are in the giant story of SWs. That date then drives the characters, the food, the storyline in Smugglers, the drinks in Olga’s and the entertainment. Change it weekly change it monthly change it daily. It doesn’t matter. GE itself is the theater, as you point out, now we just need the producers to WTF up.

I think that an easy fix for Galaxy's Edge would be more characters in the land, both named characters and "scenery" characters to give it more life. But also, I don't think there is a need for three entrances into the land. If you remove the middle entrance (across from Droid Depot) and the group of trees just off to it's right (to the right side while entering through that gate), there is more than enough room to add something to do there.

I am glad they finally used the stage for something, the Show they put on for the Make a wish Kids was fantastic, I heard the whole multi day event for them was fantastic as well. I do hope like you that they utilize more of the stages because it was clearly designed to be used and add immersion to the space. I hope by Next year, Remembering that things used to not happen on those stages, will be a thing of the past.

Live entertainment is one thing but what galaxies’s edge really needs is some kinetic movement. You walk into the land and there is nothing going on, barely any area music even. Every other land has something moving to give the area life. But nothing in galaxies’s edge. It looks like a movie set to a film we’ve never seen before.

That would be a good thing , because now since Disneyland has taken away the entertainment shows. I remember about 7 years ago when I and my sister were there we got to see several shows and since COVID, and other changes with the Big wigs they just can't or won't spend the $$$ to bring it back. Brickey I tell you since Disney has upped the price and with all the crap with reservations they must be making money considering all the updated attractions. I personally would love to go But, I couldn't afford to go and enjoy the park. I'm going down in mid October but only going to KBF. Love to possibly run into you if possible.❤

I've always felt Disney could do a couple things to improve their stance on Galaxy's Edge. If they want to stick to era consistency, they could have prequel characters out in the morning, legacy characters in the afternoon, and sequel characters in the evening. Basically a Skywalker Saga clock. Or you just change the story of Black Spire Outpost to be an extremely unique location in the galaxy that has a tear in the space time continuum, allowing for anyone and everyone to be there at any time.

I think they could swap it through the day, honestly. So many characters have to go backstage for breaks and shift changes. Where they probably used to have three different people playing Kylo and the First Order Stormtroopers, just have the first shift be Anakin and Clone Troopers, second shift be Darth Vader and Empire Stormtroopers, third shift Kylo and the First Order Stormtroopers.

Every time I go to Galaxy’s edge, I end up, leaving thinking the same thing. Why does it look like it was evacuated because a hurricane was coming including all of the droids? The millennium falcon just sits there it should have like births of like white smoke and steam coming out and then starting the engine maybe and giant fans could spin and maybe blow air. The line for Smugglers run has this big space they built it looks like a fantastic set to work from. There is nothing there though nothing is moving. Nothing is turning. There’s no life there’s no action and the land itself again is like a really cool movie set that nothing is happening on, I hope they are making a change to bring the land to life

Love it! I think they could easily keep the current timeline alive and alternate days with the timelines of the past. Three trilogies on a rotating schedule would encourage people to book three days rather than one or two.

I've been espousing this idea for awhile. It was inspired by Colonial Williamsburg, where they do have a three day schedule of events about the Revolution. I think at some point they are going to just ignore everything they positioned the land to be in a set space and time and just do what people really wanted... see the characters they knew and loved.

GE also needs some kind of space band playing some funky strange instruments. Like the Star Wars version of The Bootstrappers. I'm just dreaming though.

Galaxy’s edge will remain broken until certain key changes happen: 1. Star Tours need to close and move to a new experience in the old loading area next to Smuggler’s Run. 2. Hando needs to be replaced by Han Solo in Smuggler’s Run. There are need of environmental areas that feature the older characters. And the ride sequences must allow for better storytelling for gunners and engineers. 3. There needs to be a secondary kid’s ride. They can figure it out. Could be as simple as a land speeder spinner. If WDI wanted to make the change, they can do it. Just like Pixar Pier and San Fransokyo.

btw The Starcruiser was only a failure because they made it a failure. If it had been marketed by Disney Cruise Line, been 3 nights with a special evening event in GE, then the awesome story telling and the cost would have been in balance. And the cast would have had a predictable 2x a week schedule.

The problem i have with star wars lands in both parks is that they did good on the rides but the lands itself is so cut back that's why the hotel flopped. They really need to take a page out of universal book and invest all in to not only attractions but the lands desperately need it disney come on stop going up on the prices and falling back on everything else that's not right we need that magic back or just hand the trophy up to universal because epic universe and all the other parks are about to blow up big time...🙏🏽😁

Disney needs to implement and bring in the original trilogy characters to make Galaxies Edge more enjoyable. It's what set up the franchise and what fans truly want. The place is set around the Disney Star Wars movies, which, let's be honest, hasn't been a fan favorite. I was told recently that if I want to see and experience the OG Star Wars vibes to go to Star Tours. That attraction has now been tainted with the newer movie elements...bah! I wanna see Vader, the original Stormtroopers, Bossk, 3P0, R2, Royal Guards, Luke/Leia, Han...etc over in Galaxies Edge. And if anyone with the Disney corporation sees my comment, please market original SW merch/suvineers in Galaxies Edge with stuff that's more appealing that caters to what the fans want... the original SW.

I'm huge into Star Wars, and huge into Batuu as well. I do honestly love it the way it is, and if I could, I'd be there every day, even with how it is. Real talk though: a lot of people are not superfans. It's a big land, and Disney needs it to make the kind of money they put into it, or, worse, they could someday replace it entirely. I think it's healthy to discuss the kinds of things that average fans/moviegoers would enjoy and try to keep the things we really love about it. They could take out a store, add a meet and greet with Darth Vader. Our immersion would only be ruined if we went in to see Darth Vader in a building we weren't required to go into. They could have a show happen with characters from other eras. It would be scheduled, and you could just avoid that area when the show was going on. See the compromise?

Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy has been reportedly against original parts of Star Wars being used by today's Disney theme parks. Today's Disney Co is very political, and so ideology is as important as, or more important than, artistry & creativity are.
