As a painter I believe those deep scratches might be “crows feet” basically uniform areas in the clear coat that are cracking/failing (mainly cause of the clear not being protected, OEM paint, and being in the elements) but your definitely otw to paint/carbon!! The hood looks a million times better tho and the scoop was definitely painted! You definitely gave me hope on detailing my sun baked IS300!!

@Seb Doyle as soon as Evan did a close up I went looking for the comment too!! I’m in the same boat bro! People hear “painter” and they ask why I don’t just paint it. Some shops believe it or not won’t let you spray your own stuff😅🤷🏼‍♂️ however my new job starting Monday has days called “Arts and Crafts” where they let us bc in their eyes it’s furthering our skill set!! So I’m really pumped bc I’ve had a few cars myself to spray for a while and no shop has ever supported a project before like this new place!!

The hood looks like it has crows feet btw. That's pretty much an instant respray. Valiant effort for sure, but just can't sand/buff it out.

I think for what it looked like before it turned out pretty good . I like how you tried to fix even knowing before hand it wouldn’t turn back to original or close to original paint . I love detailing myself and always like to see what I can do to the paint to make it look like a different car .

Coming from someone that is obsessed with detailing you seem to have a lot more knowledge on detailing than most other automotive KZbinrs. Most automotive KZbinrs don't know much at all about detailing.

If you have issues with alot of paint residue coming off the car onto the pad you could even try a foam cutting pad and use atleast double the compound you would usually use this allows the residue coming off the car to keep moving and not interfere with the cut of the pad then you can blow out the pad with compressed air or clean it out with water if it gets bad that should help cut down the time needed to refine the paint after sanding because if the pad gets clogged with residue not only is it hindered from doing its job but it will also scour the paint that youre trying to correct

Imma give you a tip and that is whenever you wipe off your polish or compound fold your towels and also blow out your pads after each panel for either the wool or microfiber to stand back up for a better cut and polish

I would wet sand only in one direction. It’s a lot harder to cover swirl marks if it’s round. Trust me. Try it out and let me know if it’s easier. That’s how I’ve always done it and helps a lot and cuts back a lot of time.

You need yourself a sungrip light to see the swirls cause the camera can barely pick it up. With a sungrip light it mimics sunlight so you can see how much work you need to out in.

Those visors are made for the gf8. Really rare and pretty expensive. Even if you find another one, more then likely would break in shipment.(ask me how I know). They made 2 versions of it. One being purplish, the one your currently have and another being a clear smoked.

loves the video i started trying to learn detailing just these couple of days back..its rly silly..i took a sanding disc attachment for a drill..and slap polishing pad to it that i got really cheap (sorry,am broke, dont judge 🤣) ..10 buck for 3 pad (a wool pad,microfibre pad and a yellow foam pad) i started out on an old moped bike's i have around using just a single step waxco brand polishing compound..the factory paint this thing have is as bad as ur sub hood man..the things its been through after good nights watching various youtube videos i started sanding the bike fairing with first 1k and 2k grit..then started polishing and to my amazement it buffed out..like holy hell..swirl marks and everything but its amazing to my naked eye there's just something really really satisfying buffing out paint..i have depression and its a good theraphy to say the least funny thing is my little brother and sister stood behind me weirded out with what im doing..i said to them "i want to make it shiny like new" just for them to burst out a laugh 🤣 but the end results have their jaw dropped and they cant believe what they see 😂😂 i rly wish i can have enough confident to do do this to my car soon..the paint on it is really bad too..if it would look just a bit better i will be happy about it..it doesnt have to be perfect
