Man, not only the 5k record but the Ann Peebles and Annette Peacock, personal grails of mine. I don't blame you though. When you're rushed and have dug for awhile, mistakes will happen (I once passed a box full of 100 dollar psych 45s which I will never live down though I did take one). This is a dig straight out of the Twilight Zone, or as we say in the UK, you took a trip with Mr Benn through the special changing room door!!!...words fail me Tuco...oh lordy, what a dig!!.as the records were so cheap, you're only problem I guess was getting them all home ( then I realised you made multiple trips)..the condition was fantastic too, the storage looked decent though and the temperature and humidity must have been kept fairly regular to avoid mildew. Great that you got multiple copies too, you will make some serious cash there on those you don't keep for yourself. You work pretty hard at this game and I've always admired your sheer leg work and tenacity, so I guess this was your reward for that..congratulations!!( but I'm also very envious at the same time! ).

Thank you!!! Twilight Zone is right!!! It's still hard to believe! As far as the records being stored in the proper environment...not so much! There was a window air conditioner on the garage, but it wasn't working while i was there...and I'd guess it hasn't worked in a loooonnnggg time! 😂 Fortunately the records made it out ok! The covers show no signs of water damage or mildew....BUT, they do have a bit of a musty smell though! All the records that were stored on the floor got water damaged, and they all went into the garbage! Nina Simone and Lou Reed were among the water damaged casualties! 😢

I found MANY rare 60's, 70's, and a few 80's rock, garage, psych, R&R (and a few rare soul/funk LPs as well!). Was up there all day in north-central Pennsylvania. I sang all the way back home with a car stuffed with LPs! Total cost for the car-full: $400 for close to a thousand LPs. Many now are $500 to 1 grand LPs but I sold those with my 1st LP collection in the mid 90's. Yeah, BIG mistake but I but do have the most important ones on CD reish now so not all was lost. Damn That Plus LP is another one I had a chance to grab cheap but left behind as I had no idea LoL When I went back it was gone-zo! Holy shite! Power Plant! I can no longer take the excitement! Haha! Very good strategy with headlamp and bucket Genius!

Yes! Plus was a very interesting listen! I actually wasn't blown away by Power Plant, thank god...so I'll have no problem selling it! If I loved it, it would have been a harder decision to sell it! I could use $600 more than i can use the record! I'll recoup a good chunk of the money i spent just by selling that one record!

Score! Do you keep track of all this somehow? I almost never use "throbbing" in a sentence. All I found to day was Quadrophenia Who and Run DMC King of Rock 1985. $4 total. Oh and a mid-cent wood cut dancers (Philipine tinikling) framed art for $6.

Super find! Didn’t Throbbing Gristle changed their name to another name? I used to listen to them in the mid 80’s and it was underground and not many ppl. knew about them. Oh, I think they turned into Chris and Cozy. Wow! I forgot about them and they were considered industrial music back in the 80’s.

It’s interesting some groups that were not well know and underground, are still very Union but so great and ahead of their time.

Most of these are going into my personal collection. I did a lot of blind buys though, so there'll be some that i don't like that will end up going for sale. My brother and I sell records at record shows and we have occasional pop-up sales at his house.

I clocked the Phafner as soon as I saw it, yikes! It would have been an ethical dilemma if the seller had asked you to make an offer rather than giving you a price, it's always awkward when you're put on the spot like that!
@VinylHunter
@VinylHunter Жыл бұрын
Yeah, fortunately i never set the price... I'd bring her my box of finds, she'd look at it and say "give me $250 (or something)"...and I'd pay the amount she asked.

@VinylHunter
@VinylHunter Жыл бұрын
I didn't discover it until months later when i started editing the footage. By then, the records were gone. I know who got it though...it was a friend of mine! It was not necessarily a set price per record. I'd bring her my box of finds...she'd glance through it and say "give my $250 (or something) for them"... It worked out to be approximately $3 per record!!!

I still listen to most of the stuff i used to listen to, but, for the most part, i don't feel the need to seek out and buy stuff i listened to 30 years ago. If i happen upon it for a good price, sure I'm going to buy it. But, like i said, I'm usually looking in new directions for music to listen to. I can't JUST listen to the same old stuff.
@travisw6378

haha nice video... i do the same thing, rip that shrink off, i sell many records at a store where people dont even know how much old shrink i remove, it just 90% of the time looks bad
@VinylHunter
@VinylHunter Жыл бұрын
Yeah! Back in the day, most people didn't put their records in bags...a lot of people wised-up and left the shrink on to protect the cover. But, now we put them in bags....better protection than the shrink! The shrink is usually wrinkly, torn, tattered, cloudy and in this case, very dirty! If there's not a hype sticker or cool price sticker on it, it's got to go in my opinion!
