I say give it a fresh coat of paint, and let your kids pass it down to their kids. Awesome job on getting this old work horse back into service.

I've forever tried to find an affordable Lawn Ranger. Love the looks of the old hood, long frame, and small steer tires!

Your videos are fine. Your work is fine. I don't know why Wheel Horses aren't all over the south but I've never seen one down here. My little brother had one in Michigan that he swore by. He's gone but I bet his son is still using that beast. LOL Thank you for the videos. I used to be a collector also but between my health and thieves I can't even cut my sisters' grass anymore. But I still get to watch y'all fix them.

Congrats on getting that tractor running, driving and cutting! I’d probably do a full restoration and put a high price tag on it, enjoying it until the right buyer came along. If you think your son would appreciate it some day, maybe paint his name on it and tell him some day he’ll be old enough to drive it. Just make sure to start teaching him how to maintain it now!😉🔧👍

I commented on your last video about having the lawn business that paid my way through college. Well, after I graduated my dad bought one of these with a 42" cut and used it until he passed in 2001, so probably at least 23 years of continuous use and he never had an issue. These were great mowers.... - Brian

A way to remember which is which is think about the phrase, “drill and tap”. Another way (for us up North), is “tapping” sugar maples for sap. I don’t think sorghum is tapped down South. 😉 How about “tapping” that keg? 😁

I like my 416-8 but it will never cut as good as my zero turn I use both.Well till today the horse decided it would not let spark get to the plugs.So I mowed with my ltx 1050 that I got for free.And the horse loves it's fuel.
@LaidOffGarage3 ай бұрын
Let’s hope it’s an easy fix and not the pickup coil on the onan causing no spark. They are very expensive !
@terrymiler21643 ай бұрын
@LaidOffGarage that's what I think it is. It was pegging the gauge for charging and then this happened.
@LaidOffGarage3 ай бұрын
@@terrymiler2164the 416H that I’ve shown on the channel a couple times had an intermittent no spark issue. I chased wires and swapped every part possible before I found out that the pickup coil/exciter ring even existed. It’d start and run great and as soon as the engine got some heat in it it’d start losing spark. Had another onan with a broke rod and I borrowed the pickup and ring off it. Haven’t had an issue since.

It's a die. Tap's make internal threads

I hate how they make those starter gears out of plastic so they just grind away I just replaced one on my simplicity. Love how it’s Turning out nice work man
@LaidOffGarage3 ай бұрын
They are a PITA but I will say they are cheaper than having to source a new ring gear/flywheel if you have an issue!
@Rein_Ciarfella3 ай бұрын
Due to how a Bendix engages and disengages with a flywheel, one or the other is eventually going to wear out, so making the less expensive part sacrificial makes sense. It’s just the nature of the mechanics of starters.

I love these kind of videos thanks for making them! I just was wondering You have never had problems cutting threads with WD-40? I'm sure it works well. I just always made cleaner threads using cutting oil..
@LaidOffGarage3 ай бұрын
For the small amount of thread cutting I do i haven't add any issues. But I'm going to check into getting some cutting oil now that you said that!
