Rare WW1 german rusty bayonet restoration. This EB44 is the rarest of the German plain bladed S98/05 type Ersatz bayonets from WWI. This bayonet was found on the battlefield on the Eastern Front. The bayonet was very rusty.
I decided to preserve a part of history and restored the bayonet. I removed all the rust and preserved the old iron. I like to restore antiques and knives. I hope you liked my restoration.

I really enjoyed this video and the spectacular work you did. Hoping you have several more WWI & WWII artifacts to restore. Those historic items seem to be very popular.

@@ReXtorer hey, I like doing the same stuff as you do for restoring old knives and stuff like that I'm an amateur. Do you have any advice for an amateur to be better at this? I'm OK but I think learning from some thing like you who has more experience doing it if you could messaged me that would be great. Also, I need to know what products to get. Thanks.

The dogtag does not match up with the bayonet. Its a Pionier (Engineer/Sapper) dogtag, the Bayoned is Jäger/Infantry. The Pionier Bayonet had a saw back.

Interesting, thank you. One question if I may? The flange of the bayonet that fits on the rifle barrel seems to be missing part of the loop, I hope that is the right term for it? Is that gap in the loop how it was designed? Or did it just rust away? Thank you again.

I wonder, what'd happen if you were to leave something in the electrolysis tank for over three hours? Every video of yours I've seen has had it there for three hours, no more, no less.
@ReXtorer

Nothing will happen. The current decreases, the reaction is not so active. The time of electrolysis depends on the size of the object.
