Rare Zippo SFOR COOP BOSNIA Military Peacekeeping Operations

This zippo was found in a garage sale for 1$ from the soldier himself. SFOR COOP Bosnia peacekeeping operations by joint military staff from countries around the world formed under nato. Very cool piece of history involving Canadian military.

Hey man, I don’t know if you’ll see this comment but my brother was there and he has one that he only took out of the case to look at a cpl times and it’s been stored in a locker since 1998 in its original case it came it, although it has a British flag at the bottom right with some other initials going vertically down on the top left with “SFOR” on it. The box say guaranteed for life. My brother was in Bosnia twice, he said it wasn’t pretty.

The metal plates on these Zippos are not "made" by Zippo most came out of Germany, and later Turkey nearly all of these plated types of Zippos would of been sold from Army PX outlets/stores. The early KFOR Zippos could be purchased in a large carded box with the wording KFOR NATO Windproof lighter on the front and the Zippo flame logo. You can also find a few "cloned" Zippos with these metal plates. Some of these plated designs was also painted, all done in-country. Your's is 100% real.

you were close but you got your dates a little off for the Bosnia mission I went into country dec 95 not 96 I know this because my company spearheaded the mission as IFOR, and it was that until I left in dec 96 then I believe they changed to SFOR I do know the next time I went 6 months later it had been changed to SFOR and was still that when returned again about a year later

oh and there was a 50 year in the danish army zippo in his coolection, that he got form the danish army as a gift the day he had been there for 50 years, that is a one of a kind, and she sold that too
