Zippos not having a rubber seal or plastic seals is actually a feature, rubber and plastic seals go back after several years rendering the lighter useless, zippos designed without them still work. I can grab a 1960’s zippo and it will still work like brand new, in 300 years that same zippo will still work like brand new, how many other lighters can say that? There was a deliberate choice in not using soft products to seal a zippo, I’ll take the fuel evaporating in a week in exchange for the lighter working for over 100 years any day of the week.

I got a new brass Zippo with a nice and tight hinge but with a underbite. I simply took the lighter without the insert installed in my hands and take my thumbs, (one behind the other) and press/push the top in the direction it needs to go. Super simple. No tools required. Armor case may be a bit to tough to do. Don't have one and never tried.

anyway to swap the chimney cap attatched to flint wheel on to the one with chimney cap attatched to cam? so you would have no lid wiggle and not scratch the top? also, you ever run into it no exstinguishing? theres a review on amaon stating it didnt not estinguish and it burned the buyers wallet and phone

Couldn't agree more. Think about it. The less cotton the more fluid can occupy the space. Finding the balance between too much and not enough is key. I just received a new 2024 brass Zippo and when I pulled the insert the felt was down 1/16"+. That is unacceptable by US standards IMHO. I'm sure I'll find the wick all bunched up as well. I'll be repacking/wicking this one for sure. Shocked to see the wick on this video that ineffectively installed by Zippo.

I only have 6 zippo's however one of them is a commemorative 1932 on left side of bottom and 1982 on right side. Brass case with the angled lines on the top and bottom of the case halves. It is in very nice condition. Really like this lighter.

Hey Zippo Fanatic great vid. Repacked one of my Father's old Zippos with Cotton Bacon Prime. Need to get more fluid and see how she does. Question: I have a Zippo with the name "Ray S. Koltz" engraved on it. Any idea who this is or was. I've done some searching and no luck. Also the top of the Zippo came off. Everything still there. No dents, kinks or other signs of abuse other than excessive wearing of the finish. The brushed finish is 70% intact with brass showing big time. Any advice on how to reattach top? Greatly appreciated. Liked and subbed.

They need to paint the bottom with crackle like the originals also the insert should be dull to mimic the anodizing they did to the steel on the originals. If Zippo would do those two things I would buy one right away. Might not seem like a big deal but those are two major details that made them even more unique then any other 41's

In my experience, if you refill your Zippo every single day, and always keep your wick moist, it lasts basically forever. I maxed out at 3 years. I’m a smoker, so refilling it everyday is just okay for me.

A tip: you have current display on your PSU - don't ladle in a random amount of salt (you put a huge amount in), instead switch supply on before adding salt then stir in small amounts of salt to dial up the current you want (I would recommend a good deal less than boils the solution!).
