N64 remains awesome in my eyes too, more awesome than ever now that I'm older...and if people try to tell me it's just rosey-colored glasses, I'll just say that, well, hindsight can be 20/20, and it's not just nostalgia because some favorite games I've never really quit playing.. or actually love even more now... It was a good time for Nintendo, as well as Iguana, Rare, eurocom, and id...all of whom supported Nintendo's console with their different brands of brilliance. Of course, sadly, only a fraction of some of those houses still stand, so-to-speak. P.S. we might be a bit OT hah

@Daniel-xi8xe5 жыл бұрын
@@riflemanm16a2 Sounds right to me! Same applies to graphics from then: everything was probably a major consideration whether it even made it into the games or not at times. Rare has produced handheld games for Nintendo since Microsoft bought the company. Offhand I can recall Diddy Kong Racing DS and Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge. Although you may never read this Rare, of all your IP's released during this era, this game probably deserves a remaster more than any of them. With the exception of this and Blast Corps, all of your other N64 games have received a nice current gen makeover (Yes, I'm including Conker: Live and Reloaded). While a Rare Replay upscale to 1080p is serviceable, this game is BEGGING for a Perfect Dark level of remaster, If not by you guys then outsourced to others, like 4J Studios with Perfect Dark. I don't want it to sound as though it's merely ungrateful begging, but just look at this game. LOOK AT THIS GAME! A work of musical and graphical art that deserves it's just due. Perfect Dark was one of my go-to games on the N64, and the remaster not only made it EVEN BETTER, but it put Perfect Dark in contention for my favorite game of all time. Jet Force Gemini Is a criminally underrated masterpiece that, if given a proper face-lift, would get the recognition and receive the accolades it sorely deserves.

Not sure why everyone talks about a sequel, remaking the original altogether with updated graphics would be better. THEN the sequel. Younger gamers aren't often open to playing older games specifically because of the aged graphics. Back in the late nineties the graphics looked great, but of course like every 64 game it looks blocky now. Getting a new generation hooked on the first game if it's remade with updated graphics will open the doors for the sequel to be made.

I am glad to play the game at HD though and with “modern”-ish controls. I don’t have an Xbox though, so I just play the game on an emulator. and yes I own the game on my N64, but the game looks really bad with the really low resolution on my huge TV, so I play on the Project64 emulator in 4K with an HD texture pack. The game looks so much better that way, and I also use my PS4 controller and I mapped the C buttons to the right analog stick so I can play with sort of modern-ish controls.

@@ct2xperience749 It's been an observation of mine since it's release in 2002 that Ratchet and Clank is essentially the evolution of game mechanics and technology of what Jet Force Gemini was. One thing you didn't know. I lived near rare back I the day and I preordered jet force Gemini from them. These were the days before preorders were a thing. And they sent me the game way before release date in a special black rare box with special rare tape sealing it and a personalized thank you card inside. Also pretty sure it was a limited edition game cart. Iv since tried to get in contact with them regarding this and they have no records from that era now. It sucks they have lost their history after Microsoft took over.

JFG was way too awesome for its time, mind-blowing music, sound effects, weapons, enemies, levels - it just aced every single sections of what makes a game. Even throwing accessible co-op in there with the robot Floyd, a firing range challenge with plenty of levels, a multiplayer with plenty of customization _and_ proto-perks (iirc certain characters retained some of their SP campaign abilities). This is just insane what was crammed inside a N64 game, it should stand beside Zelda OoT imo, it is legendary! And is there any other game that can claim not only a dog with guns as a main playable character, but a dog IN A MINI TANK THAT FLIES as a main playable character?

Is the introductory animation of Sekhmet supposed to be another one of those hidden dirty jokes? :) On a side note, please, PRETTY PLEASE WITH SUGAR ON TOP, make a rearrangement of the original soundtrack with an orchestra. I've been dreaming about that since I was a teenager!

Such a good game, I'm always googling to see if there is a sequel in the works... always disappointed to see no information and only rumors... but I can have hope that one day it will happen!
