@Rare Parts Inc Is there any standardization for major and minor diameter, or does it vary widely between applications?

There are some common minor diameters but they vary quite a bit by application. Matching the taper angles and the minor diameter are most critical for automotive since they affect the stud seating and "locking" into the tapered hole correctly. Since applications vary, we typically inspect every batch of studs to make sure taper and diameters/dimensions match specs.
