Dragonborn 7151 Well Celestia's reason in the movie was that it was unnecessary since Twilight was doing a great job with the "Friendship Festival" already. In this case everything went wrong with the play & they actually needed a sun for the play about Celestia raising the sun.

In the Journal of the two sisters they do that together for the first time... If I remember it right Starswirl tells them to do it as the unicorns can't do it anymore so Celestia lowers the Sun while Luna rises the Moon. Before that (as stated also in the play) Starswirl with punch of other unicorns had the duty to rise and lower both the Sun and the Moon... However doing so was depleting their magic so one unicorn could participate only for few times before becoming unable to cast magic (however when Celestia and Luna did it, they also acquired power to rejuvenate the unicorn magic).

Now Cadance should get an episode. She had a great backstory in a picture book that should be included in the show and she does not make much sense without one. And she should sing again, she has a great voice. Also a backstory episode set just in the past would be amazing. We certainly have more than enough characters form the past. Celestia and Luna, The Pillars, Founders of Equestria, Discord, Dragon Lord Torch, Tirek, Scorpan, Sombra, the Crystal Princess. Not that all should be in one episode.

I particularly enjoy the nuances they put into the background, such as Starlight comforting a terrified Fluttershy after the fireworks go off, or Luna being highly unamused at Celestia raising the sun in the middle of Luna's night. Also, maybe it's just that I like to think of Celestia as some grand chessmaster who has things planned out way in advance, but it seems to me she was in fact a fine actress (I mean, 1000 years of politics would kinda impart that), and she was just leading Twilight along to teach her a lesson.

Holy crap, we're in sync with our feelings on the episode again!😅 One thing I will say is that I felt the substitute sun subplot to be worthwhile in terms of comedic payoff - with the balloon, Rarity's line "It's the perfect substitute" is said so ecstatically that it makes her subsequent dejected delivery of "It _was_ the perfect substitute..." rather hilarious; Twilight's line "Do I even wanna know?" right before the marshmallow thing is gold; and then Pinkie's line about getting untested magical fireworks in a back alley from Trixie at midnight is probably my favorite line of the season, as well as one of my favorites from the entire show. I think that's what this episode did really well - just a lot of great humor throughout. It was a blast of almost pure fun, through and through (but without undermining the weight of that Celestia-Twilight scene)

I like to think they are trying to do properly with Starlight, what they failed to do with Twilight. Build her up properly before taking that final leap. A properly done series finale ascension. Building up her leadship skills. Correcting her dependence on magic. Fixing her relationships. Acquainting her with the responsibilities of a princess. Ect. Twilight always seemed rushed to me, the way it was done. Didn't they do it that way because they thought the show was ending, or something? And they wanted to end on a 'high' note.

For me it seems that Hasbro will block full reactions uploaded early, full reactions uploaded after some days don’t get blocked. Cut reactions will never get blocked. I watch about 10 reactors regulary, so this is what i think. Some examples: AndyReacts uploads cut reactions on the day of the airing and doesn’t get blocked. PotterBrony and KaperonTSB upload full reactions early and always get blocked, but unblocked some days later. All full reactions uploaded after this time don’t get blocked anymore. DYWTBA_Universe uploads cut reactions early and the full version after a few days and never gets blocked. For me it turns out like this: Wait until PotterBrony gets his video unblocked, then upload and you are fine.

What I liked about this episode: Celestia being comfortable in front of Twilight to let her gaurd down and prance around The young 6 were included The party howitzer "Big Bertha" Applejack reminding Twilight of honesty The improv was pricless Celestia being genuinely mad at Twilight, and Twilight feeling the consequences of her actions Celestia stepping in and making the play work. Fluttershy's panic attack of playing Cdlestia while Celestia is watching Celestia giving Flutters the tools she needed to get over her anxiety. Luna's expression when Celestia raised the actual sun, destroying her perfext evening Celestia is best troll - something I've been saying since "Forgotten Frendship". Nichole doing a great job at bad acting. What I didn't like or went, "huh?" Starlight getting worked up working with a pruncess. Wee know she doean't put on heirs just because she is in the presence of royalty. She remains respectful, but not afraid to treat them as a normal pony. Luna wasn't mentioned in the play Celestia raising the sun, but refused to help Twilight set it up for the festival in the movie. Twilight's family wasn't there. Overall, I really liked this episode. I can't wait to see DWK's or Littleshy's take on it.

It's the 1111th anniversary. The timeline of the show is pretty messy, but it's probably somewhere between three and five years since the defeat of Nightmare Moon (there is something seriously weird going on with the cake twins though), so that puts the sisters raising the sun and moon a little over a hundred years before Luna turned into Nightmare Moon, less than I would have thought but it still works.

i like the idea of this episode, but it feels odd that celestia would be bad at so much as speaking on stage when she typically does a lot of public speaking. also, for someone who loves and appreciates plays and acting to not understand what acting is in concept at all is odd. it comes across as purposefully being exceptionally bad at the basics and mentality to get out of participating in the play.
