I have a Breitling Aerospace, the first time it needed a new battery I took it back to the dealer to get it a new one. It took 6 weeks and cost £70 (~$80). Now I do it myself and it costs £3.

I'm a watch collector/amateur watchmaker and I shed a tear when hear of people buying Breitlings and Tags. They made great watches in the 70's and older. The modern quartz which most are is a $60 movement they sell for $1000's. You are paying for a fancy bracelet with a throwaway quartz movement. Sell and buy yourself a nice vintage Omega Speedy. That's a real watch with a mechanical movement. I got into collecting mostly military issued watches. They were so expensive to have worked on I read books, watched DVD's and ended up spending more on vintage tools than on the actual watches. The best watch tools are Bergeon. Snap-On of watch tools. Doc your "cracking tools" are called caseback openers. I only use plastic tweezers for batt changes. You should also clean and apply silicone to the o'ring. They make a silicone watch o'ring applier. It's a plastic case with a sponge on the inside lid and bottom. You separate the halves put the o'ring in, give it a turn and it's done. Watch supply companies sell tools, parts, and o'ring kits.

@@scotts4125 Depending on the aerospace they have a thermo-compensated quartz movement uber accurate, not all quartz watches are the same just like not all mechanical movements are the same quality. That being said I still lean towards mechanical over quartz.

@@pipboy8787 A $10 quartz watch from Walmart will most likely be more accurate than the best mechanical. It will also be as accurate as some pretend super uber quartz. That's all marketing. Accuracy isn't really the issue. Sinn made oil filled watches. You had to send the watch back to the mothership for any work because of the oil fill. A mechanical movement is a totally different animal than quartz. It's more about the appreciation of what went into making all the parts and how they all work together. I do agree mechanical watches can vary in quality. Quartz not so much. I haven't priced movements out in a while but I could buy the same Brietling digital quartz movement from my watch supplier for $60 a few years ago. They sell that same watch for over $3000. This is mainly where I am going with this.

Hey Doc! My wife happened to see your battery case with all those batteries in it!!!…She said you were OCD! I told her you probably were and that is one of the reasons I like your channel so much!!!!!!!

Doc, thanks for bringing a diverse perspective on “tool reviews”. I am possibly a bit like yourself in that I repair all kinds of things, not just cars and the world of tools as you know is very expansive based on whatever subject matter you’re digging into.

Come on be a sport take the Rolex apart. Most well rounded watch repair kits also come with a small soft bristle brush for cleaning also. Kinda like a women's make up brush but way smaller. Anyway another great video from the Doc thank you.

I bought a watch case opening wrench when I realised that it would pay for itself with one battery change. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

Nice! I'm not really skilled nor qualified enough to really work on a watch beyond changing the pins for the strap. My watch is mechanical so no battery and not much in there I know how to work on. I did once have a Bertucci, nice watch for what it is.

Just a note for the back removal "knife". Having a glove on your off hand can save you some pain. Also if you use a rocking and wiggling motion to give the blade a chance to work under the edge you might have an easier time and be less likely to scratch the back if it slips and you are leaning into it full beans.

That was hysterical! Depth measured in miles you say? Looks like a typical Rolex Submariner which I believe is nice 300M/1,000' watch. What is it rated for 1/5th of a Mile?

Hi Doc, I am surprised you don’t have a PB Swiss coin driver. They work great for watch battery covers. Looks like a nice enough kit. I am not sure what I am going to do when my rolex needs service, thankfully 11 years and it runs perfectly.

Don't ever try to take your Rolex apart. The watch has oil in it and you could ruin or mess it up pretty bad. Leave the cleaning to a Rolex dealer. However you are going to cry when you have to have it repaired or cleaned.

I can't tell you how many cheap G-Shock (and imitations) I've thrown away over the years, Doc. Simply because I lose small parts & screws while trying to change the batteries. This set looks like a must have... Thank you for the recommendation, sir. Now, can you show me how to clean and service my trusty, beloved Seiko diver (automatic)? And BTW - what are you wearing in 90% of your vids? A Submariner?

At 2:08, don't know if you were joking, or an idiot - your Sub is rated for 300m, which is less than 0.2miles. That's assuming it's genuine and not a Rep.
