Ryan Bury wow. the single most ignorant thing i've seen all week. first off, Duncan never played on a team with as little talent as some of Kobe's teams. example 2005, 2006, 2007, 2014-16 lakers. Duncan has also never torn his achilles on the tail end of his prime right before the playoffs. the last 3 years of kobe's career were pointless. he was old and had a bunch of near career ending injuries and had absolutely no help. so don't give me that "duncan won with less talent" he had david robinson, avery johnson, tony parker and manu ginobili for every ring that he won. kobe had to fight the last 4 years of his career. he's a warrior. true testament of the G.O.A.T. 🐐

I had the same thoughts as you, not only that his arguments in defense of Jordan over Bryant were horrendous. I know more about both players than he could ever dream of knowing. Its a shame he isn't a true student of the game. In terms of skill Kobe surpasses every player because he copied every move he ever liked. He didn't just borrow from Jordan, he took from Hakeem, Magic, Kareem, Dirk, Chris Paul etc. Kobe had a ridiculous repertoire of moves in his arsenal and was deadly in his ability to use each move. Jordan was a better athlete and defender, and was a smarter scorer (didn't allow his ego to dictate his game as much) whereas Kobe allowed his emotion and ego to dictate his game more. This is why Kobe's shot selection was worse than Jordan's even though he had such a high basketball IQ. Analytics support the notion that Kobe is the greatest tough shot maker in NBA History. This is why when Jordan played he made the game look easy, whereas when Kobe played he made the game look tough.

With the comparisons to MJ and Kobe in terms of defense I have to disagree with McCants. I thought Kobe was the better defender. I always say that when you compare players, you have to look at 2 things: their skills and their achievements. Lebron has achieved a lot but he isn't as skilled/talented on the floor as others are. The iPhone 6 is based on previous versions and it's slightly better with more upgrades, so how is that hard to believe when it comes to basketball players? Kobe was better than MJ. Why Kobe > Lebron is simple. Lebron simply has more weaknesses is his game. The most glaring weakness Lebron has that Kobe didn't was outside shooting and free throws which are the most important skills to have in this game next to defense. And let's not forget how Kobe played and dominated thru many injuries...I mean he couldn't be stopped even with a broken index finger on his SHOOTING HAND while playing at the highest level. Stop and think about that for second, it's unheard of and unbelievable. Kobe can pass just has good as Lebron, Kobe just chose to get buckets. Of course Lebron will rebound better because he is bigger. I believe Kobe was better defensively because he wanted the challenge every game to guard the opponents best player. Lebron doesn't do that he just does these pretty chase down blocks and everyone gets all googly eyed and thinks he is a defensive guru. Kobe is the ultimate warrior and scorer, if not for injuries and the infamous Chris Paul trade that should've been, he would've surpassed Jordan in rings and been the leading scorer in NBA history. Then there would be no discussion, Jordan was lucky for that. But Kobe is really the Goat if not he is definitely number 2. But to say Lebron is better is total disrespect and I'm so happy he is being exposed once again. Can't wait for this sweet sweep to happen.

kobe is better from the field in every single spot on the floor except for within 3 ft of the basket, and after this year from 3 as well. lebron shoots over 30% of his shots within 3 feet of the basket, kobe shot under 20% of his shots from there. So it seems like bron is far more efficient from the floor, but if you look at every spot of the floor kobe shoots better from the majority of spots
