I don't think there's too many foul calls, but the threshold of what constitutes a foul is too low. Too much ticky-tack stuff, not enough full faceted competition it's all offense.

Thats why eg in EuroLeague you will rarely see a team scoring over 100 points. They play both defence and offence and they also have better rules. Eg in NBA goaltending just awards poor offence, in FIBA, once the ball touches the rim, it's fair game for both sides.
@09lowkey11 ай бұрын

The softness in the officiating is why the scoring and 3 pointers have expolded over the last 15 years or so. They've taken away physicality which is the only advantage the defender had. What I find so funny is the misconception from those in the rules committees and owners who both want more scoring as if THAT is what makes good basketball. Fans want to see great players making great plays, that's it, so steals, blocks and physical play is literally what the best era (80s and 90s) was built on. Scoring can be up, if you get physical and there is a turnover, fast break with tons of fast paced action. Now it's no defense, ticky tack fouls, drive to the lane uncontested and 3 point barrages, it's more Euro-trash basketball All Star game level of excitement.

It will make the final seconds of close games waaaay more interesting and you know guys like Curry and Dame can hit those half court heaves already. Adding extra lines will just ruin the game because you’re rewarding shots players already take. The NBA has the right idea with fast pacing but the obsession with running up scores and essentially eliminating defence and certain defensive positions from the game is only hurting the product. That Portland roster was insane. Talk about a super team. And they choked hard. LOL

I’d revamp the flopping system… first flop is free. Second flop- 1 game suspension. Third flop- 2 game suspension. Fourth flop- 3 games… and so on. And flops can be reviewable (in case an apparent flop was missed by the refs, OR if a flop was called and film shows it actually was legit contact. Watch how quick that flopping shit stops.

Players not even in the game watching blocks & barely contesting lay ups like its horrible & the way the game being played all the teams with veterans are suffering because they can't keep up physically realistically

If they let players play without all the bad foul calls.. control In the game man it’s a lot of players that wouldn’t be as good as we think they are. Also it would show which players that are really better than super stars that were chosen

Thank you Rasheed! Giannis has no business taking that 3. Take two steps forward and take that 18ft shot. I’d leave him open every night. If he makes it then he makes it.

And yall call Lebron the goat for playing in the softest weakest era of modern day basketball 😅😂😂

Remove the corner 3s as a starting point. Even better, just make it a straight line where the current top of the arc across the court. At that point it would encourage players to drive to the hoop or at least get closer for a 2 point jumper.

The 3 point line should only turn on in the last 2 minutes of the quarter.

That's a great idea

What’s your reasoning?
@fuel2011 ай бұрын
I don't think the 3 point line is bad as is, but for the integrity of the game if a team is going to chuck up three's all game then maybe they should be punished and have a penalty 3 point line that is moved back and cuts the wings corner shot. I'd give a team 12 three's per half and if they go over move the line back. Once there is say 4 or 5 minutes left in a half then there is no penalty line in which no team is no longer penalized. Also the last 24 seconds of the 1st and 3rd quarters a team 3 pt shot will not go against their shot attempts at three's since a team may have to shoot a near half court shot. MLB made rule changes to the shift that keeps 2 players to each side of second base. Something that keeps the integrity how the game used to be played for over a century. I think the same thing needs to happen to basketball. Make the 3 point shot strategic for the sharp shooters and that could ultimately bring back the mid range game back.

Gotta make 4s, 5s, 6s and 7's now, depending on the range of the shot.

Real Talk Sheed

We need others other than Rasheed to make statements like this because hearing Rasheed criticize the refs is just business as usual and the average person won’t listen lol. We need others so that it can be taken serious because it’s clear as day the league isn’t the same anymore.

The funniest thing about all of this is that it was a struggle to get Rasheed to stay in the post most of his career. Dude drifted out to the three quite a bit in his day. At a time when that was frowned upon. If Rasheed played today, he would be out there jacking up 10 threes a game. He knows that and he is butt hurt about it.
@crungefactory11 ай бұрын
I doubt that very much
@hieroglyphy618111 ай бұрын
@@crungefactory whatever. I watched Rasheed’s career. Coaches and teammates were always imploring him to get to the post (check what Billups had to say about it), yet he floated around the perimeter more than half the game (jacking up threes and swinging the ball). There is no doubt in my mind that growing up today, and given the green light that is afforded to today’s players, he would take FULL advantage. Zero doubt in my mind. He is just a bitter old bird doing his “back in my day” routine.

For a while, Sheed was used as a small foward occasionally when Portland had Brian Grant playing power forward, so Coach Dunleavy encouraged Sheed to shoot some three pointers when he was a wing. The only time that Sheed really more willing to post up when he was fired up. There were a number of decent power forwards that Sheed had to play against too, so it wasn’t like Sheed was going to get some easy buckets posting up Karl Malone, Tim Duncan, or Kevin Garnett to name a few.

Hand checking should never come back. Defend with your feet, not your hands. Refs need to call offensive fouls. Personal cylinders need to be respected on defense *AND OFFENSE!* If the offensive player encroaches on the defender's cylinder, that's an offensive foul. 90% of the time, physical contact is initiated by the *OFFENSIVE* player.
