Any plans soon to do a vid’upload about ‘wills’? and discuss & show Australian books (eg: Wills, Death and Taxes Made Simple - Noel Whittaker ; The Australian Guide to Wills and Estate Planning - Andrew Simpson), AU resources/webistes that will help. and also discuss some basics about it (hiring local lawyer vs website/cookie-cutter do-it-yourself will pack)

Hi James - In your answer to one of the questions you mentioned that it wouldn't make sense when in pension mode to put money back into super (into accumulation) (i.e. moving money from a no tax environment to a taxed environment) - and that the only cases where it made sense were if the min pension payment was more than you needed OR you were still working (went back to work) and could do it as a concessional contrib and get a tax deduction Could you not also have a scenario where you (were retired & < 75yrs, not working, were drawing a pension from your super) and also had assets outside of super as well (which I believe was the scenario of the questioner?) - if the assets outside super were generating income - could you not still do a concessional contrib and claim the tax deduction against the income from your outside super investments (assuming you were earning enough outside super income to put you over the 15 (16%) tax threshold to make it worthwhile)? I guess technically some may also want to do a recontribution strategy (with non concessional contribs) to was the taxable components for "inheritance tax" purposes (also assumes you're under the TSB cap so can still contribute)

Rodney, it’s Owen here. The answer is yes. But as you point out, there are a few IF, BUT and AND in that scenario. So it’s a little niche in its application. But yes is the answer, someone could do that. But if tax and estate planning are being considered, there are other options like investment bonds, gifting, etc. that are probably more worthy of consideration - and helps with diversification in case of rule changes. Instead of saying ATF, can you say what ATF and all abbreviations are, you have to understand some people , like me dont understand your abbreviations and jargon.

Good point, Tony. I’ll relay that back. In the meantime, here’s our full course on ETFs - it’s our most popular free course of all time. Cheers, Owen Rask education.rask.com.au/courses/etf-course/

Control makes a big difference but it costs more but once you do take control is worth it. 300k to 450k to so far 900k. To invest in disruption like bitcoin and Tesla (Aus Super doesn't let you) the option left is SMSF with a cost per year of $2k-$5k. Oh well.

Hey mate, it’s Owen Rask. Those are some fair points indeed. Control comes with costs - but also bigger risks indeed. Subtle point though - any index or ETF investor inside Super would have bucketloads of Tesla, and bitcoin derivative companies like Coinbase, Microstrategy, etc. may only be a smaller allocation but it’s still exposure. And that’s the beauty of index weighting - it automatically rebalances, tax effectively, to the world’s most valuable companies and assets. A subtle point, but a consideration nonetheless. Owen
