Raslarr Rear bar Installation and 1st thoughts.
First off this has been a long time coming. One thing I didn’t realise when I ordered my patrol was that it was going to take 3-4 months to get a Raslarr rear bar for it.
Was it worth the wait? Yes absolutely, the quality of the Raslarr bar is second to none. Built well is an understatement. All steal construction with a thick rear plate around 5mm, 3mm down the sides with reinforced corners.
The bar incorporates a 3.5T towbar to match the towing capacity of the big patrol. Provisions for all the tech. Reverse sensors and blind spot monitoring all works as it should. LED taillights and reverse lights as standard.
The fit complements the lines of the y62, especially the boxy series 5. Installation is relatively straight forward, only the wiring and the bumper cut being a little daunting.
If you are looking for a rear bar they are definitely worth checking out.

Does installing this rear bar leaves more room for bigger spare tire underneath in comparison to Hayman Reese tow bar itself?

Unfortunately, I can't spare the weight for a rear bar. Setting mine up for mainly towing a 3.3T van and every KG saved helps. Looks good though.

Yeah I know the pain. I wanted one for the Fortuner but because they hadn’t done one yet they needed the car. I’d now say it’s worth the drive and time for one

tow hitches are a grand there?! I don't think I spent that much combined for four hitches for across four different vehicles here.

Yeah it’s crazy. We can’t just bolt a hitch to the 4 bolts at the back though. It is an ADR complaint bar that incorporates a tow hitch so there’s a little more in it.

You get specific measurements for the cut. I cut it fat then trimmed it to fit

I am in two minds with it. I have contemplated it. But I know I’m just going to scratch it anyway

@@HappyGoTravel nah do it man! Will look heaps better. Just get a touchup pen for when you scratch it. Black still gets scratched and rusts, no real difference except color coded looking much better
