hey, lead dev of the modpack here - thank you for the showcase and the kind words, you did a good job summarizing a lot of the key changes and im glad you enjoyed it :) on the point about the nerfs to food, the pack has farmer's delight, a bunch of its addons and a lot of custom food unique to the pack which you can make that will restore much more hunger - the only nerfed foods are the ones that don't take a lot of effort to make, attempting to encourage people to try some better foods out, though i can see how it may end up being a bit difficult during the start where you have no means to make the better food additionally, the beacon changes, create's mechanical drills and some changes to TNT are meant to take the place of efficiency (TNT recipe will output 8 TNT at a time, and deepslate ores are blast resistant meaning you can go mining with explosions) thanks again for the showcase and feedback :D 💕

Okay i understand taking things slowly and enjoying the game, but making it more grindy doesn't really help that haha. The reason that there's so many mods that add QoL improvements is that minecraft at some point gets a little annoying. Tired of slowly mining things, cutting trees and clearing out large areas? Ultimine/Vein miner, You lose food and durability but make your life considerably easier. Tired of having to back track to your sedentary home as minecraft's exploration is ultimately flawed? Waystones! Find villages and cool places and then you'll be able to get there easier, exploring new land is much more pleasant! Annoyed with having to grind in the caves to find a bunch of iron? I mean at this point you get the idea with mods. I don't think every modpack should get turned into super optimized minecraft, but if you're going to make "slower" make it more pleasant! Add a sense of discovery to your pack like the game you've played before is now entirely new and fresh! Minecraft's progression is always gonna be weird, but you can make a modpack that really feels like the flavor is fruitful!

I would share some improvements from my brain: 1. Beacon effects will get stronger if the bases of the beacon will be made from more valueable materials. e.g: A 3x3 diamond base will give better effects than a 3x3 iron base. And every layer for each power level. It's just too boring people only build beacon bases out of iron/emerald blocks. Speaking of emeralds… 2. Since villagers & raids (and probably everything related to pillagers) have been removed, emeralds will be THE rarest material in Minecraft. We have only 2 ranged weapons in vanilla. Also, without villagers, fletching table is ABSOLUTELY useless. I'm suggesting emerald rifles. Yeah maybe firearms "don't feel vanilla", but we already have Create installed, so… 3. We don't have the end, that means no elytra. Make minecrats faster. Kinda camman18-ing on this one, but it'll add up so well on the overall picture of this mod.

@@christianroot6287Yeah, but as pointed out in the beginning of the video, that lack of progression means that you hit the end game almost immediately after starting. The modpack explicitly stretches out the progression so that the jumps feel more interesting and involved. Minecraft not having a progression system is explicitly what the modpack is attempting to solve. There're only so many ways you can add progression to Minecraft without it losing it's identity, and Terraria serves as a good place to look when trying to make a crafting/exploration game have better progression. If we take your own example, it's like someone made a steak chip flavor and your reaction was "That's not what chips are supposed to taste like." If you like vanilla, that's fine, but raspberry was added because people wanted something a bit different with their meal.
@gigas1157 ай бұрын
I think the bigger issues people have are just how necessary a lot of the endgame stuff feels. Shulkers are the best way to hold the amount of blocks you’ll want for building. Elytra are the best way to get home and back after a long journey (ofc they’re used going out, too, but that’s just because of a mindset of, “have em, might as well use ‘em”. The highest tier enchants reduce the time it takes to gather blocks, as well as mending removing the extra time investment to gear up however many times. Remove any of these and the world just kinda becomes so much smaller. Which helps keep people engaged, but also reduces the game to, “find a nice place to settle and be done with the game.”

This reminds me of Vintage Story - VS makes the early game a lot more tense. You will not be gathering blocks of stone anytime soon. You must start with just gathering sticks, grasses, and loose stones. It adds a whole new step in progression with pottery, to allow you to cook better food and store food items. Things that were once so easy in Minecraft, like breeding animals, are now something that takes a lot more commitment. But it's crazy how all these added steps make building a homestead feel so much more fulfilling. In Minecraft, I can punch a tree, jump into a pool of water at the bottom of a cave, immediately get stone and coal for a furnace, and then mine iron and then diamond. It's so absurdly easy, you kind of have to do it when you're playing with others or you'll be behind. But vintage story you just feel so much more incentivized to actually make a nice little place to live - especially when you need to survive the winter. I'm glad that other people are realizing how this kind of stuff can help Minecraft, and are implementing some of those ideas. The gameplay makes for a nice contrast with vanilla Minecraft, and then vanilla feels a bit more fresh going back to it.

for the point about food, basic foods have been nerfed as you’re meant to use them as ingredients to make meals like burgers, sandwiches and tacos which give a ton of hunger and saturation so it incentivises the player to go out of their way to farm or even fish to get better food it’s probably one of my favourite mechanics because I never farm yet the pack made me and I actually enjoyed the laidback nature of it

A lotta mods just add food that is harder to make but since you can't really buff it beyond vannilla food it's just kinda lackluster. Some aspects of it definitely seem cool, and I think if someone made a version that adds more end-game content through mekanism that could be a good fit. Make certain recipes more expensive or disable (looking at you digital miner) or generally work to push it back to be end-game content.

Full respects to Raspmary and her team, but shoving Create into the pack seemed VERY forced. By the way, what's up with the "vanilla+" thing? I definitely wouldn't call it vanilla+ when you have such drastic changes like removing an entire dimension or Villager trading as a whole. Exactly, these people in the comments talking about how being slower doesn’t necessarily mean grindier when their definition of grindy is adding a simple extra step that goes a long way to make the game better. Like the iron sheets early game introduce the main ideas behind create- generating rotation and stress units, and if it’s going too slow you can figure out how to speed up the press using gear ratios. Those skills follow you into the mid to late game. And the people saying there’s no point to removing the end- it’s simple, because so much of Minecraft becomes beating the dragon as fast as possible to get the benefits, it’s removed entirely to slow down the pace of the game. And if you want elytra, then this modpack simply is not made for you. It feels like people critiquing it haven’t played the pack.

@@yourbelovedautumn , removing the worst part of the game = making the game better overall. "More" doesn't equal "better". The end dimension wasn't even supposed to be a full dimension before 1.9. It was created as a bossfight area and that's it. Then Mojang decided to expand it so you can do a little bit more than just fight the dragon, and... added 1 plant with 1 dungeon. Well, for old era of updates (pre 1.13), it was okay, but it's been more than 8 years since then and Minecraft's updates are on another level now. The current end dimension is 10 minutes of bossfight and 3+ hours of wasted time. It has no idea behind it, it has no content, it has nothing. Visiting the end in newest versions feels like I'm playing an early dev build of the game where developers only made a template of a new dimension and were testing basic stuff in it, but nope, it's a piece of content that exists for a decade, and for some reason it's not top priority to update it. It's completely fine to keep the end loot (shulker boxes and elytras) and just make you find it in different way, but it's also not necessary and the game can be great without the end stuff completely, check out Musketeer modpack that removes both nether and end dimensions, or Better Than Adventure mod that plays fantastically while being a mod for an alpha version (and ofc has no end too). The other reason why removing the end dimension in modpacks like these is not a bad option - modded mc lacks good end mods. The most popular stuff like "Better End" simply fills the dimension with more biomes without any substance, or tries to copy the nether update and apply the same formula to the end, which doesn't work at all. To make the dimension better, you basically need to start from scratch.

And why is the shield a different shape? And the added tediousness of all this is just gonna make players want to loot structures to become op on day 3 even more than they already do. Plus the early game is already the most boring and tedious part of the game for almost any player who's played enough minecraft to want to spice their experience up with a mod pack. It also changes and lengthens the journey to beating the game but removes the destination? Unless there's a separate endgame that you didn't mention for the sake of it being a surprise, which would be fair, the end goal of beating the ender dragon and the midgame landmark of going to the nether and getting blaze rods are non-existent.

better than wolves actually makes it consistently harder rather than free level 10 beacon effects
@Sunshoop6 ай бұрын
And it's on an old version of Minecraft so don't expect textures to look right and dont expect your skin to appear on it. You need a texture pack for your skin and there's no way to have multiple on at the same time in this era
@Bob-bs9ok7 ай бұрын
Kinda confused why it's not flint->copper->iron->diamond.
@Sunshoop6 ай бұрын
You could make that customization i think- probably. Maybe- idk. I don't think it was thought of like that
@mrShift_00448 ай бұрын
I guess i'm just not fit to this style of play, because i'm NOT getting bored after aqquiring endgame gear, for me it just getting started, and i'm sure don't love meddling in shitty gear and dying to mobs repeatedly because "it's slower paced"
@sporeham16747 ай бұрын
The gear is literally faster and more durable in this modpack but go off i guess
@mrShift_00447 ай бұрын
@@sporeham1674 Yeah, but that will not save you from fall or fire as good and you will still die a lot.
@Sunshoop6 ай бұрын
You can play on easy. That basically removes the danger of mobs unless you aggro them. It doesn't hurt playing on difficulties that aren't normal/hard or hardcore

This pack seems cool but the removal of villages, raids, and the end feel meh. I feel like they should just remove villagers breeding and change the trades, and remove totems from raids, rather then just removing big parts of Minecraft’s world
@captainpotatord69848 ай бұрын
one of the main reasons villagers and pillagers were removed was to restore the "being alone" feel old minecraft had
@user-tzzglsstle585e388 ай бұрын
@@captainpotatord6984 Then make them much rarer, the feeling of "being alone" was very much still present when Villages were first added.
@bobmaster6988 ай бұрын
Problem is, removing Villager breeding would require an entirely new mod.

So there are no end goals in this modpack ? It doesn't add any new bosses right ? Well, I guess the wither, elder guardian and the warden could be considered end game goals
@MythrilBagels8 ай бұрын
Well the thing about Minecraft, you're meant to set your own endgame goals. Like the guy said at the beginning, many players rush the "endgame" and burn out quickly. By stretching out the overall progression, theres more time to set smaller goals, or plan larger goals. If you're looking for a modpack that gives you big endgame goals then you're in the wrong place
@popov96518 ай бұрын
@@MythrilBagels Yeah probably. Although i enjoy something like terraria more, i still agree that this modpack is very interesting and unique.
