I mean as long as you get the 2nd gen version of the Xbox One controller, they have bluetooth built in as well. Use those for everything because I always preferred the Xbox One controller over everything else.

How is the input lag? I found on RetroPie the input lag was way too high (over 100ms) so I stopped using the Pi and switched back to PC for emulation. If you could measure input lag it would be appreciated.

Odds are you can get the steam controller practically new for like 30 to $35 on eBay, because of those touch pads most people don't like it. Just use it like they were intended, games like spore and civilization, gsmes. Also it's extremely customizable when Community made presets for every single game, so if the default for call of duty is horrible you can just change the preset to the most popular preset.

I went with adding Steam Link to my RetroPie setup since that keeps it tidy, but I always seem to need to reconnect mouse and keyboard to ensure they work correctly. I don't have that problem with a media keyboard and mouse combo device. It also seems my LG G4 works wonders with Steam Link as well- I can control more things than with TeamViewer that way. Overall I'm really happy I have so many different locations I can stream my computer to.

@@borotes9125 It's available as an experimental package in RetroPie Setup. Make sure you are up to date before you go looking- due to it being experimental, there may be updates for it. Oh as an aside, I found out the reason why the mouse needed to be plugged back in every time- that mouse does it to EVERY computer I plug it into, including a Windows miniPC I have. I guess it's only worth using as a travel mouse.

Wake on LAN is easy to set up. You'll need to go to your BIOS and look for wake via Lan or similar. Take down the MAC address of your PC. Make sure your Network adapter has wake on LAN enabled in windows. Google app store has a few good wake on LAN apps. You just put in your MAC address and away you go. I've done this with Retropie to connect to Steam on my Linux desktop. You can even exit big picture mode and just access your desktop as usual, browse the web, launch non steam games etc

Gregory DiCesare if you already have retropie installed you can find and install Steam link from the optional software menu as if you were installing other emulators. I believe that ETA has uploaded videos on the topic if you are looking for a complete walkthrough

After I did "sudo apt install steamlink" it appeared to install steamlink as I can click the icon to run it, but when I do it says steam has to install libicu57:armhf and that E: Package 'libicu57' has no installation candidate. I've tried to install this manually but it still says libicu57 has no installation candidate. I've also run sudo apt-get update/upgrade several times and restarted several times as well, no changes.

@@the-gherkin1726 I think I found the problem. I was running the latest version of Raspbian "Buster" and Steamlink is only supported on older "Stretch" versions of Raspbian. I downloaded an older version and it seems to be working now.

Sean Mather just different preferences. They take the downloaded file, if its in the zip format unzip it. It will be in the image format (.iso or .img). It will than break down the image and install the individual files & folders to make up the file system on the sd card where they belong for everything to work. I stick to Etcher, its open source, fast, and I have never had any problems with it.

Hi..!! I was able to stream it using steamlink as per your video..!! Although the automation step doesn't seem to be working properly as expected When I tried executing this : - sudo nano /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE-pi/autostart, I did not see the line ""point-rpi"" But I managed to include the line "steamlink" and saved it. When I rebooted it, I get the warning pop-up that states ""Couldn't download archive, aborting update"". When I click OK, then the steamink app starts automatically. I had connected my Pi to LAN instead of Wi-Fi When I disconnected from LAN and connected to Wi-Fi and then rebooted, steamlink booted automatically. So if the Pi is connected to LAN, it won't start automatically? Kindly let me know

@@VishalSharma16 I ended up putting steam link on a raspberry pi 4. 4 gig ram card. I had no issues, (overkill?) I turned the raspberry pi 3 b+ into a octoprint for a 3d printer. I got the pi 4 for xmis. Im new with this PI stuff. can i add say add a PIhole to the PI running steam link? or do i need/want to just install a pihole on a entire different pi?

fyi people, Steam Link is literally just a Remote Control software. i was testing with it, and by minimizing Steam Big Picture you are just remoted into the computer, and can play ANY game you want, or do what ever you want on the main PC.

get a raspberry pi install it open terminal and run: sudo apt-get install steamlink press enter and type password let it finish and start steamlink (either using menu or typing steamlink in terminal and pressing enter) thats practically all you dont need to buy anything else other than raspberry pi and the equipment it needs.. possibly a controller though, otherwise its gonna be less fun to play

Anything capable of sending a WOL (Wake on LAN) signal should be able to turn on the PC remotely if set up correctly. You would still need to go back and forth to enter the passcodes though.
