I use a waveshare usb hub board that is the same footprint as the pi zero 2 w and gives 3 usb ports and 1 ethernet, it's awesomely compact and uses pogo pins on the zero 2 w to connect everything

I think I’m going to buy one. Really appreciate you demonstrating the use of the USB ports. It will come in handy with my Octopi setup. 💯

I have a Pi 4B 8GB RAM model and I have that same extension board at 7:12 that gives the Pi 4B the full HDMI ports and extra USB port and I also have a WaveShare PoE Hat for the Pi 4B that adds a fan(with switch to turn the fan on an off) and a USB port. Now I need to get a case that can house all of those.

Thank you so much for this. I’ve been wanting to do more testing with the pi zero 2 as a desktop and these boards will be so helpful. Also, have you seen argon40’s nvme bottom for the argonONE? Not sure if it will help performance or if it’s just overkill.

These would be useful... If the pi 0s were more available than the pi 4s

Good. What about using tools like 'dd' / 'hdparm' / 'fio' on multiple disks at the same time? and using USB power meter devices to check current consumption on each drive?

Hi Lee yet another good video thank you. I respect your opinions on such matter. So would like your opinion if you can, I use the 32 bit lite os on pi zero w’s but it always seems so slow. Can you recommend the best os combination for the zero w’s please. Many thanks Dave

Puppy Linux is light Raspberry Pi Zero W. Retropie, Raspberry Pi OS & Puppy Linux. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHS9na1mnsyVgZY Zram is great with Raspberry Pi os Raspberry Pi Zero 2W. First time setup. Far better performance with Zram. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIvOl6iMrt6Vf9k This could be worth trying Raspberry Pi Zero 2W optimised Darling OS. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppCWZWenZZ2Bp9U

I've been looking at these adapters as away to add USB ports with power to Pi4, maybe other things. Not sure if that would work. I noticed you had one Logitech dongle there. I just reduced down to one, using ltunify, to save on power. My new touchscreen seems to use a little more than the official 7". At the ragged edge with overclocking trying to run on a 12v 3A battery (buck converter down to 5.2v.) Larger battery is incoming but I want to see how long I can get it to run.

It would be awesome if there is a passive cooling case available for that combination.

You can buy all the adaptors you want but unless you are a large scale industrial purchaser you will not get a Pi Zero to go with them. The best people can hope for is that a few make it to the retail chain in late November. Almost 100% of the Pi production is allocated to industrial purchases and will be for the foreseeable future.

Does the adapter allow us to connect standard size extensions (HATS) to our pi zeros? Also, would a pi zero W work on this or do i have to use a Pi zero 2W for it to work?

Works with the zero w link in the description states it will work with both

The Raspberry Pi Zero 2W does seem to be left a bit on the side line. I tried the usual OS with it and an Arch distro but actually had more fun with Kodi. I had a few films on the SD card and could play locally, remote to the web page for the PI and select to play a media file locally or remotely. But I wonder if there is a port of Pop OS. I do like the idea of a really small pc, that I could just pop round to a friends house, plug up to a TV and then stream films etc on

i use osmc . can be managed with mouse or controller . Just stands for open source media center . kodi base i believe but streaming apps as well as retro cores are possible . great for just movies or any of the other stuff too. i have the 3b so it should work fine . x265 720p or 1080p are rough from usb 3.0 stick just from experience but anything x264 seemed fine .

That is a cool board. Is that video from a few weeks ago the one where you talk about this OS, because if so I'll have to check it out too.

So the addon turns the pi zero 2 into a sort of pi 3b+ for the same money but without the same performance as a 3b+. Only makes some sense these days as there are no more 3b's and 4's cost as much as a used PC.

Hey lee Darling OS has been updated It has addressed some of the things which you didn't like about darling os before and got some general improvements Brief changelog since the last version that you tried: Disabled panel autohide Sudo now works (Using opendoas-sudo which is a symlink to sudo using doas) Replaced pamac with yay Updated config.txt to have more documentation Updated DarlingMenu to show some system information things and added more options Removed LY (The login manager, DarlingOS now autologs on to either a desktop environment or the console depending on a line in config.txt) Improved boot speeds ever so slightly Yay now uses all of the pi's cores for faster compilation speeds Added a startup sound Added an optional wallpaper (Can be changed from wayfire config manager) Added a cursor theme Added an SSH banner Cleaned up the Application Menu Notes: Gpicview is broken and will be addressed in a later release Although Darling OS does not support other boards it is technically compatible with most pi's, i've personally tried it on both my pi4 and pi3 and it seemed to run better and faster than raspberry pi os even on unsupported boards, I will probably add official support for other boards one day to fully utilize board specific features in the near future If you have any other suggestions please let me know :D
