Another great video, thanks! I love the blue- green colour of the thumbnail, and the snow-dusted landscape drone shots are sublime. Nice transition to the cozy crackling fire inside right after. Made me think of the Friendly Giant when he invites you in to curl up by the fire. It’s very peaceful and enjoyable watching your videos. I find I learn something each time, which makes my dream of having my own cabin one day seem that much more possible. June bug looked so happy to be with you stacking wood- her tail was wagging so fast! It was interesting to see how you get/make your drinking water. A question that came to mind while you were showing us was- what happens if it doesn’t rain? And in the winter, do you use/melt snow? Have a wonderful spooky full blue moon weekend with your sweetie. Well Russell,LGD to see you have lol your duck in a row! 😉🤣 Honestly,you need to make regular videos of you taking your ducks out for a paddle. Or do a special feature with them.......it was quite entertaining to watch you paddle with them in tow. Your drone footage and camera work was spot on,my goodness it is beautiful there. I wonder if it is the beavers of the otters putting the sticks out on the platform. One of these days you should fix one of the game cameras to the duck platform and see what happens out there in the dark. I am sad there is no Booxefest tonight,so I had a Guinness to make me feel better.

Unfortunately, although I have a tag, I will not be hunting this year since my priority is to finish off the roof and seal up the cabin before the snow really sets in. I did make that filter system myself. My first year at the cabin I missed most of hunting season because I was getting my solar power system setup. I needed power!

Ffwd to now, I forgot to fix it this summer. So now it’s snowing. Sigh. And I need to plow. So I have a snow plow in my dammed living room to fix!

when we lived in a colder climate we had a huge porch and i filled a trailer cage with wood plus a big box inside. the trailer cage would last about a month and the box inside about a week so once a month i would refill the trailer cage from the woodshed. Now we have a days worth inside and a months worth stacked by the front door and the rest stacked under a tarp by the garage.

The problem I had in a house I was long ago was that I had to carry the wood 40 mts .... then I rented another that was only 10 mts...but the terrain was flat... and that it is much more confortable .... now I live in the city ... the heat in winter is by gasoil and its general in the building I dont have to put it on... and I'm very happy with that....I cant do some jobs now....because of my age...I'm happy but I miss the fire in the wood stove You can use that daily exercise .... if you dont go to a gym

Hi Russell I would put fire wood on both sides of the porch, helps stop the wind a bit and would only have to fetch every 2 weeks in the winter months....Nice video looks like a cold winter you having snow already.

Just a suggestion did you ever think about low voltage heat strips on you're panels to keep the snow off so you don't have to clean them off.

You can get DC water heaters that run of your solar panels all day, just need separate panels or they will run all night on you batteries. Submersible pump and boom you have water in the winter.

I have 2 thousand watts of solar and 800 amp hour battery bank. Everything is 12 volt, I run a 10 cubic foot fridge. I do have 120 for my microwave and kuerig.

No trout, Roddy. It gets to 11.5 feet deep in a few spots. Through my research it appears that large mouth bass do best in warmer, shallower waters.

So don't laugh, because I know nothing about solar panels, but could you spray Rain-X on the panels? I use it on my car windshield. Snow and ice slide off under their own weight.

Snow will slide off, it's mostly the frames that stop it.
