I wouldn’t worry about not matching the in-game models. In the lore each rat ogre is vastly different to the next.

The Rat ogres in the games were designed after the Isle of Blood rat ogres. Those miniatures are beautiful, its outrageous they don't sell them anymore.

I only own those ones but I found another brand, Punga Miniatures, that makes really good-looking skaven units, including rat ogres and bonebreakers. (I still didn't try it out, but the previews do have a kind-of games workshop feel. Of course it wouldn't be legal to use them in tournaments, but still better than nothing I guess

This is really cool. I’ve always really loved the skaven but have never had a army of them as they are a horde army and a waste of time just to paint thousands of guys just to get smashed in games. But I’ve always loved the idea of just having a army of monsters. If you magnetised the drill and used some big barrelled gun. You could run it in a creation of Bile army too.

I find I have to avoid comparing Total War models to the actual GW ones, as the latter often come up very short haha! Also. I sculpt a LOT of fur, would you like a tip for easy fur sculpting? It's a method I came up with that really adds bulk and flow to the model.
@kitbosh4 жыл бұрын
For sure, I'm always looking to improve.
@tyranitararmaldo4 жыл бұрын
@@kitbosh great! :D Ok, all you need for this is a pair of clippers and a pointy object. What you do is get the greenstuff covered over where you want the fur, smooth it down with a wet implement. Then you go to the bottom of where you want the fur and gently clip, but not so hard that you take anything off. You then keep doing this left/right until you have a line. Then go above this line of drooping fur and do it again in a brick-work fashion. This makes a clump of fur lay over the gap you left in the previous row. Now go left/right again, then move up rinse and repeat (always make sure your clippers remain wet. Keep applying water as necessary). Once you are done, get your sharp object (like a knife). Wet it too. Then use it to gently push the fur in whatever direction you want. This can create the illusion that wind is blowing the fur if you move it left or right. Or if you lift the fur up it makes the model look intimidating or like it is raising its fur like an angry cat. You can change the size of the strands of fur by using different amounts of the clipper length. Using just the tip makes small clumps, and using more of it creates larger ones. Practice it a few times to get the hang of it, and see how it comes out :).
@kitbosh4 жыл бұрын
@@tyranitararmaldo Ah, that's really smart. I'll give it a shot next time I have to do fur.
