Dang Ken, I'm sorry to see this. This must be the year for shops and vehicles catching on fire. At least your whole shop didn't burn down like Brent's, thank God!! But still, that's some damage right there. Hopefully this will be the end of your bad luck. Take care!! By the way, YES please keep making videos!!

Pleeeease don’t stop YouTubing’ Ken. Those of us who have followed you all of these years have grown very fond of you. We always look forward to your adventures! We’ve missed you and have been concerned about you brother. We’re sure sorry about your beloved Dogelac. We watched you build her piece by piece. We grieve right along with you and certainly understand how you’ve been feeling about it. Love you and thanks for letting us “in”. ❤

I’m so glad your still with us mate. Bloody tragedy about the truck. You are one of only a very few KZbinrs that I consistently follow because you show us what’s going on without padding the heck out of a video with repetitive, boring junk just to put out an episode. The world needs more crazy old guys in the shed just like you and the rest of us. Keep your chin up, old mate. Lot of us Australians love your videos 😊

Waylon, quit feelin sorry or mad at yourself! If you think you are upset, imagine what the Dodgillac would say. Now, ordinarily, I don’t believe that inanimate objects have emotions, but that rat rod is a notable exception. It has so much personality that has got to be really pissed at the current situation. Anyway, glad you are ok and your shop is still standing. I am sure that that wonderful rat rod will get better than it was before the fire. Us utubers shore do ‘preciate ya!

I sure as hell ain't going to say that this wasn't too bad, because it was bad, but it sure as hell could have been a whole lot worse. Your rat rod looks like it can be saved, and I'm glad you're giving it the beans, and making needed repairs. The most important thing here is that nobody was injured, and your shop wasn't a total loss, which it very easily could have been. We're all very glad that everyone is OK, and that you're going to keep moving forward, instead of letting this break you down. God Bless everyone involved in this mess.

First off, I’m glad that you’re ok. Everything else is just stuff. As much as the truck is an original, you are the one of a kind. Every time we go to the car shows and see glass fuel filters and cars riding on 15 year old tires I can think we all have angles on our shoulders working on these old rigs. Sometimes you gotta pick yourself up by the boot straps and keep on trucking. I really have always enjoyed your videos. On a personal note my garage roof collapsed on my anniversary June 1st last year, I’ve been rebuilding it since then, and I totally understand how you feel

Reminds me so much of the fellas I grew up around, putting V8's in small cars, Olds motors in old city trucks, and fabricating contraptions out of their heads. I miss them and I would miss you if you felt the need to stop doin the work it takes to open up your shop to visitors. Accidents happen building hot rods. At least it looks rebuildable and the shop is still standing. I did the same when i was young, left a fuel line loose, tried starting it up and poof engine fire. I felt pretty dumb at the time but what a life lesson i haven't forgotten. Take a break, gather you thoughts, clean up and soon enough you'll find the spark to get workin again.

i'm glad that you're okay Waylon! i had a feeling that something was up when you went quiet. but either way, you definitely dodged an artillery round with that fire, at least you're still alive which is what matters the most. but hey, you'll be able to fix almost everything and it wasn't a total loss, including the Dodgellac which just adds a bit of optimism to an otherwise tragic situation. You're a huge inspiration to me and many other people in the youtube and car communities! I've been a frequent flyer when it comes to watching your videos since i was 13 years old, the rockabilly is easily one of my favorite builds that came out of your shop. Your builds are true works of art and i'm glad you've shared them with the world! And thanks to your videos i found my dream truck, a 1937 chevy truck. i bought a 1.5 ton last year and now i'm getting around to building it and hopefully i'll have it done by november, oh and i'll be using it as a welding rig. your "if i can do it, you can do it'' attitude towards building cool stuff is one of the best parts of watching your channel. no matter how tough things get, you always gotta keep moving forward and to keep up the good work!

I'm happy that the shop didnt burn down! Everything can be fixed, it just takes time and money. I hope you replaced those fire extinguisers. Its good to have enough just in case :)

Hi Ken - I'm one of those guys that doesn't comment much but watch your videos every one, for a long time. Damn, so sorry for your bad luck! But you've got this. I'm older than you and you are right. When you get knocked down get back up! You and Brent, you make it look easy!! But we all know it isn't and it takes what they used to call grit, or sand. I think you're gonna need a bigger fire extinguisher!

You are a testament to the strength of the human spirit. It's obvious making this video wasn't easy, so thanks for doing it. Looking forward to Dodgillac (sp?) version 2.0! Nobody makes 'em like Waylon Wire!

Sorry that happened Ken, glad you're alright. Thankfully it didn't completely burn up and you were able to save the building. Don't beat yourself up about it.

I know the feeling Ken. Watching your truck that you've been working on for a while burn does take the wind out of your sails. Been there, done that and I'm glad that you are still well yourself.

Its easy for someone that wasn't in that moment to tell you what you should have done, but they weren't there. I have been in situations where I second guessed myself but you do the best you can at the time.

Praise the Lord, Ken that you didn't get hurt! You know your guardian angel was helping you fight that fire because things could have definitely got out of control in a hurry. There is one thing to be thankful for after this accident and that is all your engineering was saved, all you have to do do is replace parts. You could have been looking at a lot of molten missing pieces and would be scratching your head as to how did I build this part initially! So, just keep your head high and look at the beautiful piece of equipment that you put a lot of years into and maybe just toss a few parts at the old girl as you recover? YES!! please keep the videos coming, there are many of us that value your wholesomeness & creativity & fresh content. Take care old buddy!

thank you for the nice comment. I appreciate it very much.....you make it sound very minimal haha.. but I'll tell ya...its much more involved than just "replacing a few parts" its going to cost a fortune!.... all the suspension is destoryed, A arm bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints, everything!.. the tires (spendy) the carbs (spendy), the windshields (spendy)! the 39 ford teardrop headlight lenses and bezels(spendy).. all of the wiring and all of the air bag system is destroyed.. on and on.. but in spite of all that..its all material things and I'm counting my blessings.. I'm so grateful that i didn't lose my shop like poor ol Brent did.

My nightly computer routine: check Waylon Wire, check Diesel Creek, check HalfAss Kustoms, check Vice Grip Garage. Was starting to get worried since you hadn't had a new video in such a long while. Sorry about your ride but glad you're OK. Keep doing what you do.

Great to see you back on YT, Fires are scary ,You will get over the physical and mental loss with the support of your Family and viewers.. We had a field fire burn within 6 ft of our house last year, only for the fire fighters arriving it would have been a whole different story... I think a lot more of how to do things safer in the workshop now

Glad to see you back. Super happy to know you are ok. I really missed your videos. Keep them coming please sir. I truly enjoy watching them you are an incredible fabricator and mechanic. Sorry to hear about the fire. stuff happens like you said we have all been there. a few years ago I was having some carb issues and went to purge the cylinders and forgot to pull the wire on the coil. I burnt up a freshly rebuilt motor and ruined the paint on a really nice Camaro.

You have been sorely missed. Life has not been the same without you. I'm so glad that you are well and healthy. The bad thoughts were running rampant in my mind. I'm sorry you beat yourself up so much but you had every right to feel like it was your fault. S::t happens and it is difficult to think of everything that needs to be done in the middle of a situation. You did what you could and you'll be back doing what your ment to do. Can't wait for your next video!!!! So glad your safe. Take care. Phil Stevens

Thanks a bunch for your inspiration. Keep doing what you do.
