Rat Wars: The Battle of Verdun

So we are back out at the battle ground and the war is far from over. We are decimating the enemy but it seem he has an endless amount of
re-enforcement's. It just means that we will have to come back and that means more videos for you.

I’m highly fond of pigeons myself and I’ve kept flocks and, upon attaining my own house, I plan to do so again, but by the same token I’m not going to lose sleep over wild ones being picked off for necessity. As for rats - for almost two years some itinerant and nocturnal attic rats (i.e., would bugger off somewhere in the day and return to the attic to chew, cajole and frolic after midnight), exponentially exacerbated my insomnia and made my life hell. For the first few weeks I was highly reluctant to poison them and used scents and bullsh*t ‘anti-rat frequency’ devices to try to ‘persuade’ them to leave; after a year when more than enough of them had learned to avoid poison I wished for them to die in as much prolonged misery and agony as was practically possible.

A female rat typically births six litters a year consisting of up to 12 rat pups, although 5-10 pups are more common. Rats reach sexual maturity after nine weeks, meaning that a population can swell from two rats to around 1,250 in one year, with the potential to grow exponentially. This location obviously has a serious rat infestation. Well done for helping to clear some of it.

I've been working for a while on a mango farm on the table lands next to Cairns. Mariba to be specific. I never saw a rat or pigeon once. I guess the eagles took good care of everything over there. Once I saw a dead snake on the road to dimbulah, 5 minutes later it was gone. Hunting wallabies and hogs on a papaya farm was the cherry on the top. The owner of the papaya farm was an old army veteran. Spend good times in Australia.

@@gorillazhead .It would not be an issue if they could be used for food .Unfortunately the diseases the can carry pose a risk to other animals and to anyone consuming them .The dangers are real from habitat destruction/ modification to spreading disease to live stock and other wild animals .They are not native to North America so they bring a lot of harm .In Italy they are destroying crops and roaming the streets of ROME!

By seeing scenarios like this I think of using a semi automatic weapon having big magazines. Amazing help you provided to the rancher. How big is the % of grain eaten every week by all those critters?

Yeah, everyone thinks a semi auto would be better but I like my FX Impact and I don't think there is a Semi out there that could compete for accuracy. As for how much a rat eats, it is between 15-20 grams of feed each day. Not a lot in the scheme of things but you times that by 365 days in a year and then multiply that by a few thousand rats and the feed eaten by these rats gets very expensive.
