For everyone commenting that I need some more enthusiasm in my voice - I appreciate feedback, but please realize this was my first video and I've done a dozen of these since. I wouldnt recommend starting with this one - I reckon my best is the first Uncharted video. This was by far my worst voice over and I think there's improvement in even the very next video, though I think I really pick it up in the Uncharted 3 video.

Keep in mind that it isn't an only terrible thing. I hope im not the only one enjoying the style here. Its straight to the point explained with live examples, the typical youtube trope of very random out-of-place jokes just for the sake of making a joke really pushes your patience sometimes. Granted it can be done right aswell, but i really dont give a shit about someone's video anymore if you replace your point with a bad joke, for example like this: "You know why the Ryno is the coolest weapon in the game? The maker of the video then proceeds to answer that question visually, by blowing your ears of with 500% increased sound volume of the ryno being in use with all its explosions. Thats not funny, thats annoying, but people somehow like their ears bleeding off. I want more people like you on KZbin, an informative style with actual humor when the time is right. Cheap jokes are plenty found 'n stretch far and wide on KZbin, maybe someday that can change. It would be more friendly for bigger audiences out there on our earth. Keep doing you Novacanoo :)

28:25 There are small peepholes to these turret rooms underneath to the right, where you can shoot them. It's not pointed out in the game itself, but it's there. 34:08 The reward is actually much better than you think it is. When entering the room where the gold bolt is placed and smash a crate, you instantly get 15000 bolts! Anyways, I really enjoyed watching your analysis! I just had to point those few things out.
@laplongejunior7 жыл бұрын
I was commenting about the peepholes when I saw your comment... :) But we can agree it was the only time it's used for the main story, the other one being on orxon. I always thought those 15000 bolts were a glitch or a forgot debug feature. As a child or as an adult, I never found a single reason to justify adding 15.000 bolts instantly without explanation.

Your point is totally valid but in defense of the Dog-Fight boss battle with Qwark, it IS justified in the story and overall series lore in that the character of Qwark is WORTHLESS as a hand-to-hand combatant, despite his undeserved reputation. Making him a proper boss fight would honestly have been inconsistent with his established capabilities as a character. He truly is worthless as a soldier or "hero," and I think the ship battle allowed that fact to retain consistency until they started making him playable in later spinoff titles.
@Poldovico7 жыл бұрын
In ratchet and clank 3 he fights you with a boomerang though. And a whole bunch of disposable tribesmen. And it's at the start of the game when you only have a few weakish weapons. And he has forgotten who he is. And this is the game he kind of gets his redemption in.
@ThrillingDuck7 жыл бұрын
Eh, I think my point basically still stands. He wasn't himself during that fight so he wasn't holding anything back or overly concerned with self preservation. The real Qwark is a coward, plain and simple.
@laplongejunior7 жыл бұрын
+Poldovico But it makes the point stronger : every thing he does in his fight is tied to his "tribe leader" position. He later says he never use weapons and prefer punching, but EVEN in this fight he never does any melee attack.

Only the first two skateboarding levels in Spyro were in a park. The latter two were linear races. And dude, I had no idea fighting the creatures on Orxon was optional! I've played through the game so many times! I can't imagine an on-foot Qwark battle being better than the dogfight (1) because it wouldn't fit Qwark's character very well, and (2) because I find the dogfight fun as heck. Edit: What the heck? I also didn't realize there were grindrails at the final boss! lol

Great first video! It was interesting to watch this, as it made me realize how little iteration there's been in the Ratchet-series since the first game (with the exception of the strafing, which granted, was a big improvement). For this reason alone, I hope your next video will be something other than a Ratchet game. I will be looking forward to seeing more from you regardless, though. Great work :-D

Just a few things to note, as mentioned elsewhere in the comments you can use the Devastator or Visabomb to hit the gunners behind the glass panels before the elevator via the three crawlspaces previously passed by along the right wall, alternatively you can also use the Drone Device as each drone can soak up substantial number of bullets before being expended. During the Drek boss fight I found myself using the blaster a good bit prior to the fight atop the deplanatizer; should you run out of ammo for it and other good weapons like the devastator and Tesla Claw, I also used the Pyrocitor on Drek as he chased you around on the grind rail after the countdown was terminated. The Mine Glove and taunter were a fairly good combo as using the taunter near placed mines increased their range substantially, which was yet another fairly effective weapon against Drek when used properly. On a final note, I once jumped on the ship closest to you when you emerge from the player and had quite a laugh as the nearby enemies shot it and eventually killed it.

I disagree with so much of what you have said here. "Difficult to melee" even as a seven year old I didn't waste bombs on those enemies - "the enemy design begins to stumble on Eudora" - completely disagree, at this point in the game you know how to combat enemies so you shouldn't need more tutorial enemies, also the double buzzsaw enemies are small enough to be captured by the suck cannon (found on Eudora), while the axe robots are not, in a way teaching how to use that weapon, "you can't hum any of the tunes off the top of you're head" are you kidding me? Veldin, Kerwan, Aridia, Nebula G34, Rilgar, Gaspar, "clank doesn't get much of an opportunity to shine" - thats if you're blind and can't see him on ratchets back - literally carrying ratchet around with heli/thruster packs, also clank sections (which fit his non violet personality) are a good change of pace from weapon intense ratchet sections, "useless metal detector" - explains why you got the ryno on your 3rd playthrough, "the thruster pack adds nothing that the helipack couldn't do, - then you contradict yourself when you talk about strafing (something I don't think that the game needs), You don't have to take damage there, there are peepholes you can shoot the turret boys from.

36:11 There's actually another Gold Bolt that requires a Weapon, though, as you need the Visibomb Gun to get the one on Gemlik Base - shoot from where you lend and aim for the top of the big main building: you'll see a duct which you can go through with the bomb and destroy a Tower below, which will unlock the way to the Bolt in one of the slime areas - (or you can just go back after defeating Qwark and leaving the Planet and the barrier will be gone); and there are also quite a few Skill Points which require Weapons. It's also I guess understandable that they didn't do this kind of thing very much, as, again, they didn't want to force players to buy everything to get the collectables (and in general) while still "heavily suggesting" that they do. There's also a couple of other things, but other comments got them covered. Aside from these, nice video! But good video nonetheless. :) That rising water segment, so hard. I just ran it again the other week to get the 1 million bolts trophy and did it first try though! :D 3 playthroughs for the RYNO? You can get that pretty easily on challenge mode. I have enough bolts before fighting Drek on the first challenge mode run. I never use strafing in R&C1, I use it a bit in 2, but 3 is where it's really necessary. Drek is real simple, basically just the use Devastator, Blaster and Tesla Claw.

I haven't played this game in years, but it's the only R&C game I've fully played through. I enjoyed it a lot at the time, but have forgotten a lot about it. Including what you said about how the level design wraps around on itself. People often probably make more of a big deal about that sort of thing in the Souls series than they should. Various games did the same sort of thing, over a decade a go. Most old school shooters even had forced level design.

There are a small amount of flaws within this analysis, such as the criticism about Umbris having one path, it's like that because it's an obstacle course, and it gets harder as it goes like with the sharks, the tanks get bigger with more sharks in them, also you don't have to get hit at that turret part on Gemlik, there are small tunnels leading into the turrets behind them

Oddly enough I did the exact same thing with the Jak series, though that was because I actually didn't get a PS2 until somewhere around the time Jak 3 was released, and I had played a demo of it at Walmart and really liked the game, plus the commercials made me want it. xD That said...The first R&C game really felt clunky to me, with the lack of strafing. Actually, I don't think I was even aware of the jetpack strafing mechanic. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention or something, but I remember having horrible difficulty with the final levels, especially Veldin, and it would have been infinitely easier if I'd known I could strafe, haha...Not a bad game, though.

Clank sections are always crap in r&c games. They are boring/slow and especially painful on second playthroughs when you already know the solution to the puzzle. Clank section should be stealth platforming section. You go places ratchet cant but where there are still big guys clank cant fight. Then clank pulls a switch to open a door so as ratchet you can then beat up the guys you just had to tip toe around, very satisfying. Also the world needs to look slightly larger from clanks perspective
