I have been following this project since 2005. In the early years, I was not able to make it work well. then from 2015 onwards, this emulator gave me a lot of satisfaction. Other known issues for UYA are that upscaling light source sprites or whatever it is dont work. They still glitch out no matter what unless you play at native. Also aquados is glitchy, if you go into the pause menu while on the level the whole level will glitch out and even ratchet and clank and the ship will go invisible. Ratchet and clank and the ship and the wrench will even remain invisible if you go to another planet! You have all done great work though, and I cant wait for when all the games will be 100% perfect

Slowdowns depend on your PC and these games have always (and will always) be among the heavier ones, since they pushed the console to its limits. In general the more accurate an emulator becomes, the more horsepower it needs

I'll refactorise my question ; i'm using a decent PC (RTX 2070, R5 2600, 16GB DDR4) and I still have some framedrops with the R&C games (whether or not using upscaling) on last stable release. (1.6) With the speedhacks enabled it is noticeably better but still not perfect. Do you think it will be improved by a lot next update or will I still need more horsepower ?

@@professorcobra2999 Expect a nice performance increase whenever you upgrade the cpu. Second gen ryzens were decent but 3rd and 4th gen were both huge jumps. I got a 3500x(basically 3600 without smt) for about $120 and it runs these games almost perfectly.

Hey there. Im mid way trough the R&C2 in a mid2012 MBP in bootcamp. it runs super okay like 90% of the time. Not perfect but it works. Tweek settings till your heart cintents and maybe you'll get some luck. Plus check your version. On 1.4 it was sluggish as hell. 1.6.0 made wonders

they could manufacture a pcxs2 with a 30 fps configuration, because the game itself was developed within 30 fps, and I made a workaround and I noticed a better performance in the control response at 30 fps, on a 7th generation core i5 notebook with a graphics card. video of 128 mega of video

All the original games targeted 60 fps (until and including a crack in time), this was confirmed by the devs themselves in an interview long ago. After that they switched to 30 fps in their furture releases

I've played the first 2 games on newer dev builds so far, it works well. Strangely, the first game is harder to run than the second. There are still issues but that's mostly because my computer isn't nearly as strong as this one. (Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660 super, 32gb ram) Edit: The third game works about as well as the second one, better in some places, worse in others, but both run at full speed (or close to it) most of the time. With the first game you might want to set EE Cyclerate to -1, this can sometimes help the other games too. I wonder if someday computers and the emulator (via system overclocking) will be strong enough to run Deadlocked without performance drops in high intensity situations, something even the ps3 version didn't do.

Hi there I'd like to report an issue with the latest nightly builds of PCSX2 I don't know what the team have done to the emulator but I'm now having stability issues with overclocking the Cycle Rate I used to be able to go all the way up to 300% with ratchet and clank with no issues I actually had a massive improvement in performance but now if I even go past 130% the game crashes on the loading screen and even on a 130% the games unstable ratchets character flickers and strange texture issues occur I hope someone at PCSX2 see's this and addresses the issue.

good evening, and that on my computer the emulator stopped working since it started the 1.7 versions I waited to see if the support came back and it is not working despite the improvements in the code posted a question on the forum but I can not find it :( My computer is an athlon ii x4 610e with gt430 and has no support for sse 4.1 so I use sse2 but it is not working anymore only the official version 1.6, the development ones at the beginning worked on Windows 7 but I migrated to Windows 10 and it stopped working.

10 years ago probably not. people were playing these games on the emulator as early as 2010 but with massive slow downs if i recall correctly. i remember trying to play going commando with a 6700k OC'ed to 4.4 ghz in 2015 (one of the best gaming cpus at the time) and it was pretty sluggish and not achieving full 100% speed sometimes. Its gotten better now tho especially with current nightly build of pcsx2. I did upgrade my cpu to a 9900k (Oc'ed to 5 ghz) around 5 years ago which is quite a bit stronger than my 6700k in single thread performance. 9900k with PCSX2's EE overclocked to 180% can play going commando at 60 fps most of the time and the speed counter on the emulator never goes below 100%. The game's internal fps will still lower to 30 whenever there are a bunch of enemies and particles/explosions happening on screen. this mainly occurs in a few sections of the final 1/3 of the game, the megapede battle, and the 1st snowy level will have some frame drops if you use the synthenoids during the angela sequence. iirc even this game running on ps2 will have these fps drops and they only last a few seconds if you kill enemies quickly. i wonder if the current high-end cpus can keep a consistent 60 fps throughout the entire game.

The resolution of the video is only 1080p right now, and the aspect ratio looks fine, might just be some stretching at the sides, but that's a common effect of wide FOV in games.

Yes, I often manage to go way higher than 60fps, I play at 8x internal resolution but I still have a bit of headroom to play with with the 3070. That being said overclocking the i9 to 5Ghz will certainly help getting better framerate in those games.

@@TheSkyrocketYT What I heard, R&C runs at a non native resolution (lower res) on a PS2, so setting it to 5K would look like 1080p imo. It's weird how the emulator is set up, but the resolution you set is relative to the native PS2 res. Since R&C is lower, setting the res to 4K in the emulator does not mean it will actually look like 4K in-game

@@CodeStrife7 Nah, untrue. I upgraded from an Intel I7 6700K to an I7 10700K not too long ago and the emulation performace on 1.7 is EXACTLY the same. Even with MTVU on. In fact some areas have input lag with it on. Like Aridia.

@@baharry I mean, theres a certain point in which performance doesn't increase for these games once you reach a high enough single threaded score. 6700K has a score of about 2500 according to PassMark, so at that point it's really just the emulators fault for slowdowns, or the GPU's. I know the colours are dull and muted in RaC1 because of emulation quirks, but can ANYTHING be done about it? I play this game every year, and I know for sure the colours are meant to be brighter and more saturated.

You can play with color saturation in the shader section of the GSDX plugin, for this video I used default values to mimic a real PS2.

@@NotOrdinaryInGames There is 2 factor which I think may cause this, first I was using nvidia DSR to have a 4k image for the video which may result in a blurier image and I was taking a video of my whole desktop with afterburner which may result in a slight color loss.

What are the specs? You can check in Device Manager and go to “Processors” and “Display adapter” to check your CPU and GPU.

Sorry to say, but I dont think this is impressive. The 9900k is one of the best CPUs available on the market. Plus the CPU here has a very big Overclock. 🙄 Unfortunately pcsx2 needs better optimisation. 😕

@@ps2emulator Sorry to not be clear. I was taking in to account the ps3 emulator rpcs3 as the ps3 was a much more complex machine over ps2. I have a lowly 3770k with a decent 980ti Amp extreme, and ps3 emulation runs great for me. The same can't be said about my experiences with pcsx2. That is why I said it needed more work. (Than just CPU power) Try not to take this as me being offensive towards you guys at pcsx2. I sure ain't. You guys did a great job of making this emulator. 👍 I was just pointing out, that it needed more optimisation. 😁

Version 1.7.0 is broken , massive performance loss compared to 1.6.0. Reported this to PCSX2 developers and told me my corei99900k at 5Ghz is too "slow"

dont belive the hype . I tried like 10 version of 1.7.0 and in Xenosaga episode 1 i get a 60% FPS drop with same settings as 1.6.0. I have same CPU as this "developer" and one of the developers told on their forums that my CPU is obsolete after i complained..This version sucks and PCSX2 sucks

I lost 40 FPS on a high end desktop cpu core i9 9900k ... imagine what will happen when the people with shitty laptop cpu (which are almost 50% slower) )will try 1.7.0 version ? 1.7.0 SHOULD NOT LOSE 40 FPS compared to 1.6.0 when no speed hacks are ENABLED !! Ignore customer / user feedback at your own peril

@@gamesthatmatter9374 lol, it’s literally free software. Relax. Also it’s a dev build, some of them are bound to be unstable and cause frame drops so there’s no use complaining.
