The breath is the biggest handle in the room that the yogi uses to create change in the body and mind, using HRV Resonant Breathing.

Thank you Forrest for these great insides. With your videos you actually give feedback on my meditations. I have been meditating for quite some time now. And after focusing on the breath in meditation, I notice that my breathing is getting "thinner" and "smaller". My body then becomes "frozen", I hear high pitched tones especially in my right ear and I feel waves of energy through my body and around my body going up and down. Usually it involves seeing colors while my eyes just wanna go up, turn more upwards. I also feel like I’m “popping” in and out of my consciousness. It's not like I'm falling asleep, but it feels like I'm in nothingness and then being conscious again of me being aware. Am I on the right track? And what comes next from your experience if I continue this way? Sometimes I feel very lonely in the worldly world. It is therefore nice to meet like-minded people, especially on your channel. Love you Forrest, many many thanks for your wonderful videos. They’re very helpful. Shivam Sharanam! Premam Sharanam! Ananda Sharanam! Only in complete devotion I can fully surrender to my meditations and finally to That, the Supreme Being. With kind regards, Ray 😀🙏🏾

Ideas that are new and strange to me: “IN THE FREEZE RESPONSE” is supposed to be a good thing…?? (I thought freeze response was/is part of the sympathetic nervous system’s trauma response: fight/flight/freeze…) And “THE TRANQUIL BREATH”…is SHALLOW breathing…??? (I thought it’s all about DEEP breathing…??) (This video popped up randomly in my feed, and I am no stranger to yoga, breath, and energy work… but not familiar with Kriya yoga… please forgive what are probably very basic questions.)

Hi Forrest, wow, this has explained so much for me. I’ve been stuck in the freeze response for almost 3 years and my capacity to function in the world has reduced to almost nil. Will this basic technique be enough to bring me out of this place a back into functionality? I’m a long term yoga student before this period but never grasped the importance of not moving in meditation and how the breath worked. 🙏

Hi Raja, I'm sending a prayer your way, and also please take a lot of antioxidants. HRV Resonance means that the body is operating at maximum efficiency. So, if your body was a car, instead of wearing out the engine needlessly, you're conserving the longevity of the engine and car by keeping a low idle. Logically, it would be the best thing you could possibly do, but always ask your doctor first. God bless and keep you, Raja.

Great video as usual - thanks! I have a perhaps weird question about the tranquil breath. Some time ago I noticed that I seem to breathe through my ears (!), or rather push out air through the ears so that a vacuum makes air come in through the nose automatically. I noticed that because I was meditating with my ears under water (soaking my body in transdermal magnesium thanks to your recommendations - it does wonders for pain in muscles, fascia and nerves). At the same time as the breath became especially light and easy and smooth, bubbles came out through my ears. Is that what usually happens? Or is it just my body being weird (that wouldn’t be the first time)?

Hey Forrest! Thank you so much for the free content. Really, this is a diamond in the rough channel. I did have a question about this practice. In an ideal breathe, would the exhalation simply be longer than the exhalation in terms of time (i.e. a 3 second inhalation and 4 second exhalation) or would it be the amount of air exhaled is to be more than the amount inhaled? Hopefully that question makes sense.
@ForrestKnutson
@ForrestKnutson 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Martin! It needs to be longer in time, not in volume. So the amount of air expelled will be the same (a little more perhaps as we give up a tiny bit of the reserve), but it's the time it takes to breathe it out which is more. That control comes from the throat and the glottis, but we don't need to think about that. Just thinking to make the breath longer is enough.
@user-xv4jg9sb3x
@user-xv4jg9sb3x 4 жыл бұрын
@@ForrestKnutson So basically itd be wrong to think that our primary goal is changing the breaths per minute, as much as we are changing the amount or volume of air we are consuming while trying to establish resonance?? That is we are trying to basically breath less, and on the exhale we are allowing the CO2 to accumulate in the lungs by changing the amount of breaths we take per minute?? The final aim of your resonant breathing is to just lower the Amount of air that we take in right??

Hi Forest, on the exhale I seem to want to take a pause at the bottom for a few seconds before I inhale again, it feels uncomfortable to quickly inhale again for some reason. However, if at the bottom of my exhale I force the last little bit of air out of my lungs by contracting my abdominal muscles I will instantly start to inhale again. Is it OK to force the last bit of breath out or should I just exhale naturally With a pause at the bottom? Or exhale naturally and force myself to inhale again right away? Thank you for your help!
@ForrestKnutson
@ForrestKnutson 4 жыл бұрын
Try and make it a long slow exhale. You don't want a sympathetic activating force, yet if the stomach contracts on the exhale it may be okay. Don't worry about being in a hurry to take the breath back in. I say, "take out the pauses," but we don't need to rush that. Let it be natural, and follow what is taking you into the parasympathetic. Great question!
