It's still sad how some characters have full super animations on hit (like Cammy, Birdie, etc) while others just shoot a big projectile (Urine, Juri, etc) or have a single big hit (Balrog). Some supers get no love :(

I remember seeing a video someone did where they slowed down and modded the camera on Akuma's Demon to get rid of the black. He's actually performing a series of strikes to vital points that are all intended to be lethal hits.

Dramatic_Gaming so your saying they animated the demon, put that work in only to cover it up with the black screen, kind of sucks when you think about it, I know all the other demons are like this but to think the character model animates the attack instead of just impact effects on a black screen, I feel sorry for the animators who put the work in knowing nobody will see it unless modding the game

Shane Agnew not necessarily. Like the video shows, you still see flashes of Akuma hitting them in the dark and his red glowing eye zipping around. The Demon is supposed to be this scary, supernatural technique that burns the vitim's soul away, so the dark screen plays into that. If they just showed Akuma moving around really fast hitting his opponent, it'd be boring and take away from that fear.

Most depictions of the move also have 16 strikes, representative of the sixteen hells of Buddhism.

8:18 I was always disappointed with Akuma's new Raging Demon until I saw it actually kill the opponent for once in this video. It's got the iconic screech sound effect and the glowing Japanese writing and it's so much better if you get the kill with it.

I actually really like zangief's. He's not just doing 3 consecutive suplexes. He's doing one suplex and just flexing as hard as he can 3 times to plant them in the motherfucking earth with nothing but the power of his beefy core. And it goes so well with the character they've developed for him, where he has developed his own unique martial art, "muscle power." It has its own training regimen, techniques, and philosophy. His super is just made to reflect that. No longer does Gief need to rely of forces like gravity and weight to properly turn his opponent into a tree, he can do it with his muscles alone.

Sakura has secondary super as well, if you whiff the super she goes straight for metsu hadouken. It doesn't that much less damage either, the full super does 50 damage more but for that reason that her super has a secondary function, I'd rate Sakura one step higher and say that it's A- instead of B+.

Well at this point you can get this with every character, take Chun Li, if you miss the first hit the animation won't be triggered and she has her old super. Most characters with cinematic supers do this.

Yep, it's funny because when people complain about the move being censored all the ones not in the know think we're talking about the slap. that's not the problem (though it would be nice to get it returned to the first version). As you say the actual THROW is the problem. it's weak looking and has no impact compared to the original proper version of the move. Every time I see it I cringe because it reminds me of censorship, ESPN and e sports =/

I know they've watched the IKs for Guilty Gear but not Xrd Rev 2. My favorite will always be Baiken with the second being Chipp's. Baiken is just a super updated version of her IK from GGX but it's just so much more cinematic that it really makes it better..that and then she just empties her kiseru pipe and berates you. I'm a fan of Jidai Geki films and she's a love letter to that kinda stuff.

I suspect the limp voice acting is the real villain. Max doesn’t really single it out in his analyses (like “camerawork”, for example), but the voice acting is rarely bad in a good Super.

You forgot Guile’s 2nd super when he’s in V-trigger. Sonic Tempest. Its just a bigger Sonic Hurricane with more hits but it is there. That, and you also forgot Ryu’s Denjin Hadoken.
